It's That Time of Year Again (The Week 17 Flex)

They never learn. Year after year Dallas manages to hang around mathematically until the last week of the season. Every year they get flexed into prime time match ups. I'm just tired of it. We've been overexposed to the NFC LEAST. Death, Taxes, and the Dallas Cowboys imploding in the final game of the regular season.

Our Panthers will play the Falcons at 1pm on Sunday. I'm OK with this because our opponent is bad and the drive home from Atlanta will be easier to manage on Sunday for fans. It also sets us up for an appealing slate of 4pm games. The Bucs and Saints game may mean little to us by 4pm. That gives us a chance to root for the 49ers vs. Cardinals and the Rams vs. Seahawks. The Packers and Bears looks like a fun game too. With all these appealing match ups I come back to my original point: the Cowboys are depriving us of a good Sunday Night game.

I'm actually looking forward to it........Dallas and the rest of the NFL is going to find out how good of a coach Jason Garrett is and how valuable Demarco Murray is if they ever want to make it to the playoffs.

There are several. Eagles v. Cowboys, Bears v. Packers, Cards v. 49ers(with some help).

I personally would rather see Bears v. Packers.

Me too.

I dug this up on which teams generate ratings. Not surprisingly, Dallas blows everyone away. It's an easy decision for the NFL.

Hence why they are on SNF half of the season. I do believe when we are winning that we have a night game atmosphere comparable to anywhere in the NFL. I've never seen more people in Charlotte than I did the night of the Patriots game. We could've filled Michigan Stadium with all of the people there.

This actually worked out well for us.  Every other NFC game that matters is at 4 or 8.  Our game is at 1pm along with NYG/WSH and DET/MN.  Unless you live in one of those four markets, or for some reason Oklahoma or some meaningless part of Maine, you will be watching our game.  We actually get more national exposure this way than if Dallas had stayed at 1.

I just have a hard time swallowing that Joe USA would rather watch middling football in familiar jerseys than the premier teams in the NFL. In a vacuum I'm sure this game is the best because both teams have something to play for. In reality we have seen the Cowboys play out this same scenario for 3 or 4 straight years. I'm ready for something new.

It's like when Jordan retired. The NBA fans did not demand Bulls basketball 24/7. Meh, I can't change it. Bah humbug.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
