Another reason to like David Newton. Not All Candy and Flowers. Lafell Truth

top dawg

Not defending him but how many of those were catchable. Cam was really off most of the game

What wrs are available with the last pick in the first :)

Only time Lafell makes a catch is if the ball is placed perfectly, and he even drop those at times. He's worthless and time to move on from

I don't think cam was off most of the game, and he got soo little help...

First and part of the 2nd, yeah, but he also was let down by several drops.

I think that he heated up quite a bit from about midway through the 2nd on

Ginn is frequently open, as well.

But most of his routes seem to be long developing.  So...

Thats the thing alot of time goes into a pass playing being postive. A negative play can come about as the wrs not getting seperation fast enough for the time it takes to block for cam, hence a sack or him running it himself. Likewise the wrs can get seperation but the blocking isnt there, same problem. Or the oline is decimated just a few secs after the snap. I Like to think both the wrs and oline are the problem. We need more talent on the right side of line and someone to take the number one spot once smitty retires (and from the looks of things thats not on the roster) plus a true number 2 as well.

Truely during the offseason are defense got most of the influx of talent, not our o. So we as a team arn't 100 percent there yet.  Yet we still made the playoffs. I dont mind ill take It! Imagine if we had a all pro oline (not just kalil/gross) and another all pro reciever to go with smitty and our te?

It is way beyond time, for the Panthers to either let Brandon Lafell go or else give him a vastly reduced part in the offensive scheme. When comparing him to most NFL teams # 2 WR's he comes out second best.

Hopefully we get a true # 1 WR in the draft or free agency and the trickle down effect of that move will allow us to address the weak #  2 WR position.

McNutts catch although not inbounds was great to see him hold onto in a hard spot to catch anyways....no nerves.....like what I saw from that little bit.....maybe some hope......Give him one or two plays in the playoffs......unknown equals more opportunities....KEEP POUNDING!!!!

I recall that several so called "NFL Draft Experts" had WR Marvin McNutt projected to be selected somewhere in the 2nd round of the draft.

Then after McNutt siid down the draft board, several NFL football analyst commented that a few years down the road some GM'S would be scratching their heads and wondering how he slipped by them.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
