Got fired today :(

panthro's right, home inspections takes a little bit of qualifying training to get into (and therefore time and money) but it's a very, very lucrative thing to get into. you'll always have work and the worst thing you'd have to do is take the occasional crouch into a crawlspace under a house.

I'll have to look into it. Any suggestions for training/cert?

FYI, you will have to crawl under almost all "crawlspace" homes, as well as go into every attic when you inspect.

Sorry to hear man, keep your head up.

What about getting your CDL's and driving?

Keep your head up. I hate people losing jobs. It's why I always hate Coaches getting fired at the College and High School level.

If you spend a ton of time out of work take an AutoCAD course at a community college. Make sure it's accredited. AutoCad is a tough business to get into because everyone wants productivity right away. However it looks great on a resume and displays you have the ability and willingness to learn technology.

I have no idea what your expectations for salary are but I saw a job working the elevators at Bank Of America Stadium once. It's a pretty laid back job that doesn't pay well. You have some access to the Stadium. The major drawback is working games instead of watching them.

With your Military background maybe there is a job for you in the Postal Service. Although I think they are cutting back. A couple years ago I was looking for a job and I found a pretty nice looking one working as a inventory manager in a warehouse. I think there was no lifting, just computer work with spreadsheets which you said you don't know computers so maybe that won't fit.

The employment security commission has a website with Job listings, it can be nice to browse it just for ideas. There are lots of companies that would love to hire someone that served in the military.

Oh, and I recommend applying for unemployment immediately. In 2008 my hours were cut drastically, I had money in the bank so I just worked a reduced schedule and burned my savings. When I finally applied for Unemployment my weekly payment was significantly reduced base on my recent earning history. You shouldn't be ashamed to take unemployment. You paid into the system and served our country.

A friend of mine just got fired the week before Christmas.  He had been with the company for 11 years.  He sounds better than he has in years due to the weight off his shoulders.  The hardest part of being fired or laid off is everyone continuously asking you what you are going to do and your like... Uhh keep looking for a job.  I hardly speak to my brother to this day because of comments he made to me while I was unemployed.  Hang in there JOAT I've been down that path more than once and it can be very stressful.

    • Rotating in Chuba was beyond stupid and really hurt our offense overall. We’ve been in a good rhythm the last 6 quarters or so but Canales figured disrupting that with Chuba would be worth it Rico fits this offense so much better than Chuba    As far as grades go I know that ain’t our RB1, starting Center and our supposedly deep WR room and exciting talented young TE in dead last. Weird. I wonder if that has any correlation on QB play  Even that first incomplete ball Bryce threw in the end zone that hit Legette’s hands. Legette had no business being there so early. Legette went into scramble drill when that ball was intended for Coker who led up because of the traffic there
    • Yeah Jets have pretty much been in every game they've played and have barely lost to really good teams. They are much better than their record says Imo
    • I kinda just wanna see what the offense can do with a QB who has proven he can move the football in the NFL. If Dalton wasn't a shadow of his former self I'd be fine with him but Father Time has definitely caught up with him. If we start piling up the losses as the schedule gets tougher and the passing offense continues to be anemic that might cast Canales his job and it's worth a very low risk move IMO to at least give him a fighting chance. The thought of yet another Tepper rebuild just isn't at all exciting to me having already seen a few of them. I'm about giving this current guy a fighting chance.
