Bay Area Writer: Kaepernick One-Read QB, Cam Actually Reads Defenses

And Newton doesn’t need great receivers – he doesn’t have any. Kaepernick does. Kaepernick needs Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis, or else the other team can double-cover Kaepernick’s primary receiver, and then Kaepernick is out of options.

Newton can make ordinary receivers dangerous because of Shula’s offensive scheme. Ted Ginn Jr. is the perfect example. He was on the 49ers last season and caught just two passes because Roman almost never called plays for him. This season, Ginn is a Panther and has caught 36 passes and 5 touchdowns because whenever he’s on the field, he’s part of a progression. He gets the ball when he’s open and Newton decides to throw it to him.

Good Article.

Wonderlic Score 2011:

Cam Newton, Auburn - 21

Colin "King" Kaepernick, Nevada - 38  (Also he got accepted to Harvard, but declined)

If IQ and wonderlic scores equated to greatness on the field then the league would be filled with Ivy League players.  Kaepernick isn't stupid but his coach doesn't trust him his football knowledge or he would let make the calls.

Marino made a 14 and Peyton Manning made a 28 so we know how important they are, right???

Appearances can be deceiving, but I have a really hard time viewing Kaep as a genius - given how he talks, given how he conducts himself, given how he plays.

I can't find any legitimate source that says he was accepted to Harvard. There are a few that say that Harvard recruited him, but that's actually a bit of a different story. Harvard does not give athletic scholarships, so recruitment doesn't mean acceptance. And - as most any collegian can tell you - getting a recruiting letter does not mean that you are accepted. You still have to go through admissions.

Yeah, it seems that's exactly how folks feel. Cam don't need receivers.

Also Cam not knowing how to read defense is another one of those myths. It goes hand in hand with  the "he's inaccurate" BS.

But it's Cam, the QB who the majority of people hate because he's gifted and they are not.

He fits the mold of the skinny geeky kid in school. Have you seen him run?

Truth be told I actually like Colin, well his story. Being adopted to where he is now is incredible.

But this week fug him. Scrub

In all honesty these Wonderlic test are only talked about when those in the media try to use it to prove their point in regards to stereotyping.

FYI, The media bragged about how high Blaine Gabbert's Wonderlic and tried to use it to make the argument that he was more NFL ready than Cam...We all know how that ended.
