24: Live Another Day

Jack's back on TV this summer on 24: Live Another Day, but that doesn't mean that he will never make it to the big screen.

"The script for the film is very different," Kiefer Sutherland said Monday at Fox's Television Critics Association winter previews of the show's aborted feature film plans. "The film is an ongoing situation. There's always an opportunity to do that. But [executive producer] Howard [Gordon] came up with an idea for a 12-episode run of this and it was the opportunity that presented to us first. It's a fantastic idea and it's something we're very excited about and something we're primarily focused on. If this ends up rebooting the show or causing a film to be made, so be it."

Slated to premiere Monday, May 5 with a two-hour opener, 24: Live Another Day will stick to the show's original format, covering 24 hours in real time, but it will skip several hours to accommodate the 12-episode order. "I hope we'll maintain the quality we had [with] 24 [episodes], but it was a marathon," Gordon said. "It was punishing. ... With 24 [episodes], you could never see the other side of the shore. Here, we can imagine the other side."

The event series, picking up four years later, will find Jack Bauer (Sutherland) how we left him in the series finale: a fugitive. Dexter and Chuck alum Yvonne Strahovski will play Kate Morgan, a CIA agent on the hunt for Jack in London. "In [the CIA's] minds, Jack is not quite Osama bin Laden, but is a fugitive to be captured," executive producer Manny Coto said. "When Jack re-enters the picture on his own terms, we will learn that he has a mission, whether that's a good mission or a dark mission ... we don't know, but the CIA is determined to catch him."

the 4th season...that's when it started going downhill, I think. It's been awhile since I watched it. And when the show first came on I thought it was stupid idea and didn't watch it. Then FX did a 24 hour marathon of the first season, I watched the whole thing...I was hooked after that.

i couldn't get past the first season. after the finale when they killed off his wife i thought it might get tolerable but then they basically turned his daughter into an even bigger nitwit than his wife and after season two episode one i just quit.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
