And just to add a lil more to it.

Cam scrambled a total of 39 times. 41% of the time he converted into a first down (16 total)

Cam had 72 designed runs. 40% of those were converted into first downs (29 total).

Also of the 16 times he scrambled for a first 13 of them were on 3rd downs, the other 3 were on 2nd downs.

Of the 13 drives he extended on 3rd downs 11 of them resulted in a score, 10 of which were TD's.. the most impressive thing to take away from these stats imo.

So... Thats 90 points we got this season only because Cam's legs were able to keep the drive alive when everything else broke down.

Take away those 90 points.... where does our offense rank? What would our record have been?

That's easy go back to 2010.... Cam is the whole offense and everyone should know it by now.

Don't get me wrong he needs weapons... I am of the contention that with his legs he can mask poor o-line play but they can't mask lacking downfield threats. I'm all in on wanting a receiver bad. Have been ever since we got Cam.

Can't be. Shula is an excellent OC. Right?

Cam's going to Cam regardless of who the OC is. I honestly feel like the biggest thing holding our offense back is not having the right weapons to pair with Cam. I spammed this board with Alshon Jeffery love 2 years ago, then Keenan Allen last year and I could go on but who cares its a moot point. That ship has sailed and so has the possibility of getting rid of Shula this year.

And I am sure you remember Delhomme killed it with a subpar o-line and Dan Henning as OC when he had Smith, Moose and Prohel with a solid run game to back him up. So give Cam an arsenal like that and the sky will be the limit imo.

Unfortunately it is something we have been woefully inept at accomplishing since before we even drafted Cam. Can only hope Gettleman changes it fast.

Smith was 2 years younger and had a phenomenal year plus shockey was a nice asset as well

Man, I almost forget about Shockey...

As far as Smitty, yeah, he did. But, I question how much he's lost physically since then versus how he's being used due to philosophical changes between Chud year one and now Shula.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
