In this case, "signing bonus" is the same as "guaranteed money". I'm on my phone now or else id like the paragraph from the CBA that states exactly that.

Article 10, Section 2, paragraph i

(i) The definition of a “signing bonus” for this Article is the same as that in 

Article 13. The pro rata portion of such signing bonuses includes prorated amounts from 

prior Player Contracts; the Salary Cap acceleration rules for unamortized signing bonus 

amounts do not apply to the calculation of the Franchise and Transition Tenders. 

 

 

 

Article 13, Section 6, subsection iii, paragraph 15 (after outlining all amounts that are considered a "signing bonus")

Notwithstanding the above provisions or anything else in this Agreement, but 

subject to Section 6(d) below, any guaranteed Paragraph 5 Salary in a Player Contract, 

including but not limited to renegotiations or extensions of pre-existing Player Contracts, 

will not be treated as a signing bonus solely on the basis of the guarantee

 

 

A franchise contract is governed by the same rules as any other contract, no special circumstances in regards to payment.

Best I can find for when a tag, and trade actually occurred in the NFL, was in 1998, and 2000.

 

In 1998 it was the Panthers who traded two first rounders to the Redskins for franchise tagged DT Sean Gilbert.

 

In 2000 it was the Cowboys who traded two first rounders to the Seahawks for franchise tagged WR Joey Galloway.

Exactly...this poo doesn't happen..just like teams don't trade for high priced RB...Tag and trade has as much of a chance as Dwill to the Packers threads did.
