reasons why Vick will not/should not play in carolina

I can't believe there are people who still don't get it :nonod:

Maybe the thread title should have been a little more specific, along the lines of this:

Michael Vick will never be a Panther, ever; no matter how many ideas people post about how we could use him, no matter how many fact-ignoring arguments people come up with, no matter how many "but what if..." scenarios wishful thinkers dream of, it's never ever happening and it only annoys people and makes people look goofy when someone tries for the hundredth time to suggest it, so just get over it and stop cluttering the forum with ridiculous "We Need Vick" threads.

Maybe then people would get it.

(could you fit that into a title box?)

#1 reason the guy hasn't taken a NFL snap in 2 years. #2 He probably isn't in the best shape and isn't he 30, the age when RBs (which is basically all he would be on this team a wildcat QB) start to slow and lose production. #3 We have far more pressing needs for our limited cap space. We need some DT depth and a little more veteran competition on the OL couldn't hurt. All in all although I wouldn't just disown the panthers if they signed him, seeing as he was a once in a lifetime athlete at the QB position and he put fans in the seats and the money flowing, I haven't seen anyone in our FO that has even said it was a possibility or even that they wanted him.

Here's why he will not:

1. The media throng that will follow him would be a massive distraction.

2. Career completion % = 53.8

3. Career passer rating = 75.7

4. Character issues

5. The Skins will snap him up tomorrow and give him the keys to the franchise, LOL!

Got Jake?

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
