Taj Gibson- anyone, anyone?

And while Hinrich and Mike Dunleavy have been churning in the trade rumor mill for more than a month, Taj Gibson’s name is the one that is picking up, and could determine how serious the Bulls are in clearing space for a max contract to land the likes of a Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James.

According to a source, the Lakers, Wizards and Bobcats have each inquired about Gibson, but they were preliminary talks in which the Bulls did not like the return.

I like his game. Definitely someone who can help us win now, but would still not make this team a serious contender

I love Taj Gibson... He is a super efficient player especially at the rim.

The only problem is the Bobcats would truly need a small forward that can shoot from outside to be effective because Gibson isn't an outside shooter like McBob so they could just play him by guarding the block.

It would be interesting to see what we would offer. My guess would be Gibson and Dunleavy for Gordon and Adrien. The Cats probably are selling idea that Gordon and Adrien would give them $14 million extra dollars to go after LBJ in free agency.

We need Stephenson on this team. He hasn't really broke out scoring wise. But this about to be a James harden type break out. If stays with Indiana it might not be as apparent bc all of the options around him. But if he was to sign here no doubt in myomd he would average 23-6-6

Now most of u will no agree. But I say go after him with max money which would be around idk 10-13 coming off his rookie contract I believe. I don't think Indiana would match or even could considering their cap position. Then of we added a legit pf this team would frogging scary.

Pg- Kemba

Sg- Stephenson

Sf- MKG

Pf- Taj Gibson maybe

C- Big AL

Now not only is that a good offensive team. That's one helluva defensive team. No doubt would be top 3 defensively if not higher.

But it's just a pipe dream bc there's no way we get Stephenson, but if we do get the chance we better strike.

I would have to agree that it's a pipe dream due to the fact that we would have to include Gordon in the deal for Gibson meaning we couldn't afford Stephenson but that is a really good starting line-up.

If MKG could develop into an offensive threat it would be almost identical to the line up that Indiana currently puts on the floor.

Well we have about 20 million combined in total this offseason to spend. I figured trading Gordon for Gibson would be the deal maybe with us throwing a pick in possibly. Gibson makes 8 million next year. I would take the remaining we have and throw it at Stephenson as fast as humanly possible. Then fill the bench by resigning our own players- sessions tollliver adrien and pargo. We will be over the cap big time but we will a pretty good team and possibly in contention to reach the east finals with Indiana losing key pieces and Miami getting older.

Lance would be that face of the franchise we could move forward with. I love his game. Him and kemba would get along being from Brooklyn and all. We have older guys for leadership but also plenty of young talent. And kemba is rising as well. Give him two scoring options and he might reside his assists to 8-9.

But like we both said fuginh pipe dream lol

So....

Gibson had 17 points (on 50% shooting), 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 1 steal tonight... on the other hand, our power forward had 11 points (on 44% shooting), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal...

Yeah we obviously don't need a player like Gibson on our team.

Face it, we're going to be at least the 8th seed whether you guys want to be or not. Why not try to be a better seed (at least the 6th seed) so we have a chance at possibly advancing to the second round and making our pick that we owe Chicago worse.

Actually not so likely, Charlotte has 3 games in hand over the next two teams and is only a half game up on Detroit. A full game up on NY. I wouldn't mind the team improving via trade by getting rid of Gordan and sessions, but I'd really like it to not amount to much for this season and still get 3 draft picks. lol

Detroit is already trying to find a taker for Josh Smith, if they get rid of him then their season is over.

And I wont be worried about New York until they solve all of their character issues (which most likely won't be this season).

    • That's my biggest concern with making him the 2C.  You split up the Aho Jarvis bromance that accounted for a lot of points.  If Jarvis excels as a C, it could help the team even more though.
    • The Saints being that high is the one that killed me. Chris Olave might not know his name at this point, Shaheed is coming off injury as well, so 31 year old Brandin Cooks might be your best WR...coming off a 260 yard season over 10 games. Kamara is Kamara, but didn't have 1,000 yards last year and is about to turn 30.  Toss in the fact that Taysom Hill may be the best QB on the team and I truly don't understand Barnwell's thoughts beside seeing the names "Olave" and "Kamara" and going yep, that sounds better than "Chuba" and "Thielen".
    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
