FA will want to come to Carolina this year....you can count on it!

Might be too cash strapped to do much

no more so than most teams...at least not this year.

there will still be a lot of people wanting one year deals hoping that next year is the year that the salary cap jumps.

i think that there will be a few not necessarily high profile guys, but guys who are very good who want be a part of what's going on here.

i'm sure rivera made a decent impact on players during the pro-bowl as well as winning coach of the year and witnessing the growth of this team. and as much as i didn't like it, rivera's new contract shows that it's a stable environment here so that's a plus.

and then there's cam and keek and the charlotte area being such a good place to move to and call home, esp. when you've got a family.

i think we'll have enough to improve this team heading into next year.

i also don't think that, aside from maybe hardy/rosenhaus, that players will try to play hardball contractually if we want them to be a panther.

that's not saying we'll get a lot of discounts or whatever, just that they won't try and stick it to us. they'll be reasonable.

We need some people to step up and take significantly less money to play for us as contenders. If I were an elite NFL player I'd take half of what I should be making to help the team out. They'd still be getting a crapload of money to set them up for the rest of their lives assuming they're smart with their money...

Who's gona restructure tho? Did CJ, Kalil, Gross, Edwards, Tolbert last year.

Can't see Jstew adjusting because he already has a big cap hit next year.

Deangelo probably not as it's likely his last year with us if he's not a June 1st cut.

Smitty would probably restructure his apart from him I don't see where or who else would or could.

Everything depends on the "Player".  I don't really see young high talent names taking a reduced contract to come here - but I can see some older vets that might have 1 or 2 good years left consider a discount.  Especially if they have any kind of ties to the area.

I know Gman does not want a bunch of 1 year deals, but the template for getting the last 1 or 2 productive years out of a player @ reasonable $$$ has been happening in NE for years - with consistent success.

Gman was very adept at finding some guys this year.  Wasn't our safety unsigned and sitting at home when he was a top 5 safety the year before?  In Gman I believe!

Agreed that FA's will want to come here, money is still huge factor except for the older guys that want a ring. At least after last season guys will listen to the pitch, which wasn't always the case.

IMO all we need is a few old guys at a discount. We have young talent but it needs time to develop, old guys help us develop while we move foward.

Different NFL now days. The time of the big contracts to avg talent are gone. Its what allowed us to sign so many one year deals last year.

Calling Ginn, Mitchell, Hixon average FAs last year is being very generous. They were the bottom of the barrel.

IMO, not every player is a money grubbing gnome. If they have already gotten paid, they may just consider us a viable option for getting a Super Bowl shot. Good players, with money, but who have never won. There are a lot of them out there. Or older type guys who still have that drive could also be in consideration. Guys who have been in the league a while, but have been stuck on some bad teams. But yea, we very well could be an attractive landing spot.

    • Me, signing up for FanDuel Network, and then canceling FanDuel Network:
    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
    • Didnt Canales already say starters are playing in the pre season? either way extra reps dont hurt but im not one of those people that think playing in the pre season would have saved Bryce from an awful start.
