Cornerbacks are a bit more tricky than other positions when it comes to their metrics. If you read a previous post on the problems with CB stats, you’ll understand that the stats are rather ambiguous and can be tricky when taken at face value. I’ll try to be transparent and put them in context, but there are many more confounding factors than say…with a running back.

All numbers are hand charted by me. Because a target or ‘burn’ may be a bit subjective, the numbers won’t always line up with other stat services. However, I’ve used the same criteria for each player which means we can at least compare these stats to each other on an objective basis.

Dennard is clearly the best CB in the draft O_O

Jason Verrett could be interesting at #28, though I doubt that. I recall reading/hearing Rivera say that he prefers not to take CBs early in the draft due to a lack of technique coming out of college.

Those metrics didn't have the two CBs I'm most interested in (in the 2nd): Kyle Fuller and Loucheiz Purifoy in that order.

another good read. Mitchell is somebody that i have been looking into lately and  he has played many different types of coverages. has a low completion % in many different areas. i am a Roby fan as well. the scheme he was in didnt do him any favors, but still the talent is there. he did have a bad game vs Jared Abbrederis

Wasted away my day watching corners on draft breakdown today.

I'm beginning to think Purifoy will be there when we pick in the second. He needs to add a little muscle. He's quick enough where adding a little muscle isn't going to hurt his speed too much.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste is someone who intrigues me. There aren't many bigger corners in this draft and I like SJB better than McGill (Utah) and Dontae Johnson (NCST). We play in a division with big WR's (Colston, VJax, Julio). SJB vertical speed lacks, but he's physical and can jam guys. McGill may be the faster of the two but SJB is ALOT better against the run from the games I've seen. I see Brandon Browner when I see SJB. None of these guys compare to Sherman as Sherman is a superior athlete compared to these guys.

Antone Exum (6', 220) is a guy id be happy with if we got him in the fifth. Can play safety as well. I wouldn't be mad if the sole purpose for drafting him is to cover Jimmy Graham. Exum is strong enough to out muscle Graham. We all know how nonexistent Graham becomes when people get physical with him.

I dunno about 28th overall, I've got my eye on some pass catchers in that range (Benjamin, Matthews, Robinson, Lee might even possibly be there, Amaro, ASJ) but I'd LOVE him at 60. He's definitely my favorite CB in the draft at their currently projected values.

I don't think he'll last that long to be honest. Right now, he's viewed as a borderline first round talent. If he has a good combine, I think he'll jump up draft boards. In fact, I'll be shocked if Kyle isn't the second or third corner taken in this draft.

Yea I wouldn't even be mad if we did take him in the first, as long as it wasn't over Benjamin or Lee (or a couple of the OTs in particular who have a shot of lasting to us). I'd prefer Matthews, Robinson, Amaro or ASJ over him as of now, but I wouldn't be mad.
