I'm not gun ho about LT in the first. The tackles you get late in the first are probably ones that played rt. Add to that the fact we've selected 2 tackles in the first since we've drafted a wr in the first and its crazy. Stop putting it off. Stop saying next year NOW is the time to draft smittys replacement,NOW is the time the time to draft a number 2 wr,NOW is the time to help your franchise QB with weapons. This is the deepest wr class in recent memory take advantage....

Unless a top receiver or tackle falls to 28 we will be picking up a second round graded guy anyhow! but it's more likely a first round graded tackle will fall to 28 like a lewan or kouandjio, Benjamin at 28 according to most analysts is looking a reach, he's good but so raw to pick so early, when it comes to our pick I think we will go for a first round graded TE over benjamin definitely.

Listen to what gettleman said! ''You don't draft for need, free agency sets you up to not do that''. Our need at tackle is important if not more so than our need at receiver, if gross doesn't comeback we need someone to protect Cams blindside for the next five years!. I'm more than happy to pick a tackle first round with gross back or not! you can't build it all overnight guys

Gross has said he wants to stay in the organization in some capacity regardless if he's a player or not. So, come back on a 1 year deal, option on the 2nd even. Hopefully he takes a cheap deal to boot. To compensate, give him a job in the organization when he retires with pay to make up for the cheap deal when he's on payroll and not the cap. Hell, pay him a million a year for the podcasts when he's retired if he will sign for a million next year. Win/win for everybody.

You betcha. Gross is a leader. Gross is a professional. He is also one of those type guys that folks just seem to love. In some capacity he needs to be a member of this organization as long as he wishes. If it is a player, so be it. When he finally hangs em up, he still needs to be a Panther.

Players like Jordan do not grow on trees. He is an asset. Whatever capacity that entails.

Bad thread from a bad poster.

Derp goes the weasel.

Agree! Best scenario is we bring him back on a two year deal vet minimum, and let him groom his replacement who we draft this year, then next year switch him to play RT and see out his career.

In theory the BPA is the draft philosophy but I am sure a weighted average is placed on a position of need .I do not see us taking a qb,DT, or MLB in the first. My guess our pick will be a OT, WR.,or DE if we lose Hardy

As much as I like Gross and what he has done here, we are in a cap situation, and it is better to hang on to young talent with otential instead of vets in their later years that are using a lot of space.

I would be for this move if it meant that we could bring in some guys to fill some of the other holes such as WR1, CB1 and RG. Who knows, maybe he is finding a way to bring Hardy back as well.

Best case scenario is that they can force Gross to restructure for 2 maybe three tops more seasons.

It is up to to him. His contract is voided. He does not need to restructure anything. There is nothing owed.

Yup, Gross is the type of Vet we need to sign. He has gotten 2 good contracts. He has given his career to football. He has had really only 1 realistic shot at a title. He should be willing and able to give a deal to a team that is on the verge of a breakthrough.

He still has something to give. He still has the ability, talent, and leadership you need. There are plenty of guys out there like him. We really only need a few of those type guys. And we really should be a team those type guys should be interested in playing for. Grab a few of those guys in FA, then you can draft BPA to continue to build for the future.

It really is that simple. The hard part is having a Front Office that can play that game. Hopefully, with Gman, we have that guy. That is the million dollar question. Is Gman our savior? So far it appears as though he is. Let's hope first impressions are not deceiving.

Who is the young talent we can fill in for Gross? We better hope he returns,

The thing you have to realize with players like Gross is that they got a very good rookie deal. Then got a really good second contract. They have gotten their money out of the game. What they didn't/haven't gotten, is a title.

There are a poo ton of players like Gross out there. Guys on the back end of their careers, who have plenty of money, but nothing to show for it. If we can fill out our roster with a few of those guys, they won't cost too much, and they will aid our development.

They also allow us to draft BPA to continue to build for the future. It really is a win/win for us. The big question is; getting those guys to come to your team. We now have a team those guys may just want to play for. And...we have a GM that is able to find, and sign, those guys. RE. Mitchell, Mickel, Florence. Guys that may not be great, but guys that can help you. On the cheapish.

We really are close. If we can fill out the roster with semi-quality FA. We can continue to drat BPA for the future. I like the position we are in. I like the GM we have. I like the look of our future. I can live with that.
