I've got tickets to the Duke - Carolina game Wed.

I'm going to the game Wednesday and it's looking like NC might get slammed with a winter storm. My question is... what would it take for them to postpone the game due to weather?

The reason I ask is, I'm going to be driving about three to three and a half hours to get to the game in normal conditions, add in snow and ice, it could be brutal!! I've spent a lot of money on tickets and lodging and right now I'm afraid I'm going to waste it all! Do/Will they postpone a basketball game due to weather? If so, How far in advance do they do it?

I put this in the lounge because I thought I might get a better response than the basketball forum. Mods, if you feel it needs to be moved, I understand!

Thanks for any help I can get!!!

They don't postpone games due to weather unless the teams can't make it.

When Atlanta got hit with the blizzard and the entire city shut down, unc played ga tech that night and the game still went on because the team was already there. No fans or camera crews could make it though and the game still went on.

Not knowing your work schedule/real life stuff - I'd look into getting a hotel room. They aren't gonna cancel/postpone the game. Unc had to play in ATL (GaTech) a few weeks ago when all that crap snow was going on. They had horrible travel conditions and the city basically shutdown...they still had to play.

U could always sell them if you're that concerned. It sucks but they'd fetch a nice price.

Thanks for the info guys! I can't really sell the tickets because my girlfriend's son is on the basketball team and this is the only chance she is going to get to go see them. I would break her heart if I sold them!

I have a 4WD so I think i will be OK as long it's just snow, if it is an ice storm I'm screwed! I have hotel reservations, so as long as I can get there I won't have to worry about driving back!

who is your GF's son? If it's JP Tokoto - please tell him to lay off the 3 pointers.

LOL!!! He's not a player, he wears a suit and sits behind the bench. I don't really know what he does but he always sits behind Roy Williams.

What will really suck is when you see a half-empty arena and you paid a crapload for the tickets. On the other hand, you'll probably be able to "upgrade" and move a lot closer to the floor.

I haven't thought about that, but with it being Duke and UNC, I can't see it being half empty! But you better believe if I get the chance I will get closer!

No doubt.

While your enjoying one of the best sporting events in America at a "half empty arena" - Anybodyhome will be sitting on his couch playing with his cat. Hopefully his 7/11 doesn't sell out of Busch Light before the big game.

    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
    • At least we don't need to hear overreacting about towels ...
    • Actually there is, try being a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean the team fuging moved at its peak and hasn't recovered since and that was 25 years ago
