Detroit just fired Maurice Cheeks, pretty sure they just went into tank mode. no way they wont have a top 8 pick in the draft.

Lets wait and see how the rest of the season goes in terms of Detroit's tank.  Do they tank because of lack of coaching?  Do they trade all of their talent away? 

If they trade all their talent away and full blown tank mode, it may be a blessing for us.  That pick is only top 1 protected next year, so if they sell the farm they may suck for a year or more thus a high pick next year (barring they don't win the lottery next year). 

There is a lot that can happen, but it may boil down to... would the hornets rather have Detroit's pick at 9 or higher this year or a top five pick next?

you don't tank with the offseason they just had (bringing in Josh Smith and Jennings) and with the $ you are paying them.

 

They fired Cheeks to get into the playoffs- not tank.
