Riley Cooper would you want him

Yes, I want neither of those pieces of shyt on the Panthers.

This, I expect them to conduct themselves as the role models they are. I want to be proud when I point players out to my four year old son. I want to use them as examples of the right way to do things.

Character is very important to me and it's why my son's first jersey was a Jon Beason jersey, because the man exudes class, professionalism, hard work, etc.

Plenty of people have been making the argument that Eric Decker's numbers are inflated because he played with Peyton Manning.

It's a legitimate question.

To me it has always been an illegitimate argument. The only way a receiver can put up yards is if they catch the balls thrown their way and get yards after the catch.  Of course the receiver has to run good routes and create a little bit of separation as well. Numbers can be deemed inflated due to several reasons, including QB play, but they can also be deflated as well for the same reason. But is that really a reflection of the quality of the WR, or more about circumstance?  There are many dynamics that come into play when judging a WR.

Well there's certainly more to it than just catching the ball. You have to obviously consider the offensive system, and the other players in said system that play along side Cooper, they have some very talented players on that offense that help take pressure off of Cooper.

Same goes for Decker. My concern with signing either of those guys (we can't afford Decker anyway) is can they put up that kind of production in our system without a DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy, Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Wes Welker, etc on the field.

I didn't say I wanted them either. I was just remarking on the unrealistic expectation we have of our atheletes.

It has nothing to do with them being athletes, and everything to do with who people choose to support or give their money to. You see it all facets of life, from celebrities to companies to friends, people don't want to associate with things they find to be overtly far outside of their value system.

If one of my friends starts calling people n-words, and then gives me "you have unrealistic expectations of your friends, I'm just a reflection of society" I would tell them to stick it up their ass and find a new friend.

It's not unrealistic, nor unreasonable to choose not to support an athlete who makes such comments, or any entity which does.

Let me be clear: I would not want Riley Cooper on my team regardless of his production. I have never posted anything suggesting that I would.

My point was that football players are just like everyone else. They are not the mythical figures we build them up to be. I can understand children making this mistake but not adults.

You will never know what ANY of these guys are like behind closed doors, so be careful who you or your children idolize because you never know who tomorrow's headline will be about.

I can't stand guys like Cooper or Incognito and my point wasn't to justify their behavior at all. It was to point out that people are people regardless of their occupation. I was a bit off topic so I'll take the blame for the misunderstanding.
