Schefter: 2014 cap rising 5% to 130 million (extra 7 million for us to spend)

I can understand the thoughts of using the extra space to clear bad contracts... but I think the first priority should be to bring back Hardy because he's the best pass rusher we've got and he's just coming into his prime.

But bottom line, I trust Gettleman to make the best use of this extra cap space for both our short term and long term best interests.

Wait.... Hardy is our best pass rusher. Really! How about CJ. I think he is a little better then Greg. I want go back into the reasons why. Been said quit a few times. GH is a good pass rusher. But I feel like CJ is a little better the Hardy.

I would say Johnson is the best pass rusher we got and that Hardy greatly benefits from having CJ on the other side. Not to deminish Hardy because I love the Kraken. But to me CJ is our best End and its not even close.

Part of me wants us to use it to wrapped Hardy up.

Part of me wants to use it on WR/O-Line/Secondary help

Part of me wants to use it on a Combo of Locking up Cam long term/taking cap hits cutting dead weight.

Point is losing Hardy in my opinion (and its just that) is not the end of the world or even the worst thing that can happen to us this year. I would say not resigning Gross would be scarier.

Well, there's the 15 sacks but I understand that doesn't tell the full story.

I think Hardy is a better athlete than CJ and more of a pure pass rusher... CJ does it with raw power.

It's also important to consider Hardy spends most of his time lined up at RE, so he's typically facing the best pass protector.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
