Sure, ask hin aboot his 2 bright spots and not the spending spree he went on overpaying a 2-14 core with ridiculously large contracts

It's not like he was consistently drafting good players in the first round or anything.

Safe picks--unless you consider Jonathan Stewart, Jeff Otah, Everette Brown (traded a first rounder for him).

Where are the WRs he drafted?

Where are the defensive tackles?

How many elite CBs did he draft?

How do you think he did negotiating contracts?

How well did he do in free agency?

He gave away the 33rd pick in the draft for Armanti Edwards, a small school QB with NO WR EXPERIENCE (which is still the case).

He tried to ttrade up with the Rams to draft Jimmy Clausen--they did not accept his offer.

He drafted players with injury histories that shortenened or adversly impacted their careers.

No WRs or DTs but gamble was a good pick

Gamble was solid, but I don't think he ever made a pro bowl.  I think he cost us a fourth rounder to move up and grab.  If I am moving up in the first round to grab a DB, he better be special.

How many free agent WRs and draft picks did he bring in, only to bust here?  It would be impossible to miss that often.  I started counting one day and got up to about 14 from memory-

Trademark Hurney:

He kept Morgan and let Witherspoon walk.

He let Geoff Schwartz and Evan Mathis go (different years), but re-signed Garry Williams.

Sure, he had a few nice picks, but you or I would have done as well.

He never did make a pro bowl but should have. Just thinking about what our defense could have done with a gamble in his prime is scary. But yeah hurney wasn't the greatest I was never arguing that lol.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
