When Has This Much Turnover Ever Resulted In a Successful Season?

How so?

OP states a specific premise: that he can't recall many teams who've experienced significant turnover and gone on to have successful seasons. The claim implies a predictive claim/conclusion that we won't have a successful season, but there's no necessary logical move from the premise to the conclusion. This kind of reasoning can be true, but isn't necessarily so.

If I say the sun has risen every morning; therefore, it will rise tomorrow, I feel comfortable and safe in saying that. However, there's always the possibility that it won't happen.

Not to mention that OP's premise could potentially be proven false which would only further compromise the conclusion.

We had almost no offensive talent last season aside from Cam. The RB's had no holes, and the WR's struggled to gain any separation. Ginn is gonna command far more than he got on his prove it contract this year, and Senn was hardly irreplaceable. Of all the losses, Mitchell is the only truly substantial loss, but again the value wasn't there for the work necessary of our secondary with the front 7 we had. With the depth available at CB and WR in this free agency, I have a feeling we'll get some good value with low contracts. The position I'm worried about is our O-line because the good FA talent is drying up, and I'm not sure how I feel about having an O-line stocked with Rookies aside from Amini and Khalil. Still, a lot to happen, hell, if we sign Nicks, I'm prepared to see the posts on here about how we're destined for a dynasty.

1. I agree with you about Mitchell and the o line.

2. I can't think of another speacial teamer in the league I would rather have than Senn and Ginn including Hester.

3. Nix hasn't played a decent season in two years and has team commitment issues. Two big red flags.

Why do you trust Gettleman so much? How do you know he's "got it"?

Why do people insist on treating people that question Gman (which is what a logical person would do) like over emotional football idiots?

I think some of you Gettophiles put a lot of unearned trust in Dave.

Which is the part that is most entertaining...  They keep launching shots across the bow at those who are questioning it and paint them as extreme, emotional, etc.

But, it is eerily similar to the support that Hurney got up until poo hit the fan with his spending spree.  There were some here that were unabashedly loyal to Hurney and you couldn't get them to question anything he did until that last season.

If Gett's plan fails this coming season, following up our 12-4 campaign, believe, there will be a lot more pitchforks around here.  All the cool kids drink the kool-aid when we're winning.  Check back with them if all of this backfires.

Nah, TD is too old to be part of the core, remember? Besides it's his turn to get poo on next off-season.

Also fuging LOL if a punter and FB are a major part of our core.

TD has missed so much time he's more like 28 than 30.

And if you don't think Nortman is key for field position (one of the most important and underrated aspects of the game) and Tolbert is a key cog of our offense (hey, what was our third down conversion rate when he pounded the rock?) then you're smoking something.

I agree with premise v. result issue but I also agree with the general spirit of the post.

Fwiw I wanted Hurney gone long before he was canned.

That said, I will reserve judgement on this offseason until we actually get close to the 2014 football season.

There is a lot that could change between now and August.  Frankly I'm embarassed by how worked up people are getting in early March.  We just won the freaking NFC South with the second best defense in the NFL.  We have arguably a top-6 Quarterback with Top 3 potential.

The sky is not falling, despite what 90% of PantherNation thinks.

I'm as sober as they come buddy...  Maybe I should be picking a bottle up, lol.

But seriously, the front seven is all fine and good.  The problem is that we got worse on the side of the ball that struggled last season.

The game starts in the trenches and works its way out.  Offensively, we are in shambles on the line and we were already lacking playmakers.  Idk if you saw the quote from Smitty's agent about that as well, but he said Smitty volunteered to take a reduced role and play as a slot but we lacked the other playmakers to allow that to happen so he ended up carrying the load again in a methodical, slow-play, conservative offense.

That is an awful lot to replace in one season and hope that every guy you sign or draft can contribute at that same level of the guy he is replacing immediately.

I get what you're saying, but if those guys we were replacing were so good, I don't believe we would have been 26th in offense last season.  Our O-line play was bad, and the WR play was even worse.  The worst that could happen is our bottom 10 offense could become a bottom 5 offense, but on the flip side, by getting some new names to come in around the core of Cam, Khalil, and Olsen, you could also become a top 15 offense.  Maybe it's just the way I think, but if the guys you have didn't get the job done, you can't be afraid of a gutting just because the new guy "might" not be better.  I'm more convinced than ever, we're going Offense heavy in the draft and picking up Nicks and a few "cheaper" O-lineman.  Will we be better?  Maybe, maybe not, but the chances are higher that we will get better because of where we finished last year as a unit than they are that we'll get worse.
