When Has This Much Turnover Ever Resulted In a Successful Season?

I expect some thread bumps in the fall.

I'm committed to waiting to judge the merits of Gettlemans moves but why should that prevent me from expressing that they look bad at the moment?

I'm getting a little tired of the snarky comments against anyone who disagrees with Gettlemens moves so far. Largely because the people who do this rarely engage on explaining the benefits of said moves.

(not speaking of you Jangler as you are the coolest Jangler I've ever conversed with *smiley emoticon*)

Luke. Star. Kraken. Big Money. TD. Cam. Olsen. Kalil. Tolbert. Kk. Dbl trouble. Thats the core. And its not a bad one either. We have some young up and comers, we will sign some vets that will help fill needs, and let's not forget we have a full compliment of draft picks. I can live with the loses so long as we position ourselves to lock this young core together.

I don't think much of Gettleman and the success this past season is about RR finally figuring it out, not anything the yankee wonder take take responsibility for. We'll see but he is not putting much effort into signing very many of our free agents. I think the team regresses.

When Thomas Davis tore his ACL for the third time you could've asked (and many did ask) "Has anyone ever come back from 3 ACL reconstructions to play in the NFL?" The answer would've been no.

 

Well, guess what. Now it has been done. And he's done it at a damn high level.

 

Recent goings on have forced so many fans into such a negative mindset. It's as if they're looking for every reason to convince themselves that this is going to be a down year. It doesn't have to be. We shouldn't aspire to follow in the footsteps of other teams, especially when those footsteps lead to failure.

 

This season is about to be on and popping for the Carolina Panthers if you ask me.

You can bring up the Pats, but their core usually remains solid and their system is pretty easy to plug guys into. They are an aberration. They also collect draft picks like baseball cards.

We have lost 3 OL (2 starters so far) and Wharton considering it. We lost Mitchell. We are likely to let Ginn walk. And to put the icing on the cake, we are publicly humiliating and then releasing the guy who has been the face of the franchise for the last 13 years and is a guy who is a potential hall of famer. As far as Smitty goes, love him or hate him, but his tenacity defined us in our greatest runs and it sustained us to endure throughout our worst. Regardless of Gettleman's reasoning for the Smitty decision, tell me how this will equate to a carryover from last season?

Yes, you have to have some turnover to have sustained success in the NFL, but too much turnover and you end up like the Browns and Raiders. Not to mention, two of the biggest influences in the locker room over the last 12 years or so are now gone. All the other guys that are leaving that many huddlers are shrugging off made up the personality of this team last season as well.

And yes, we still have the draft and free agency to go through, but the point is, I don't recall many, if any, teams that suffered this much turnover AND got rid of their most popular player from the previous 10 seasons (I'm saying until Cam got here), and went on to sustain success - REGARDLESS of hiw we replace them. Bring in new vets and draft some rookies, the turnover is still evident and there is no sure-fire formula to ensure similar chemistry. That is a concern for eevery team going into every season, but much more so for teams who have gutted significant areas of their roster.

I'm not saying this is a imminent destiny for our team, but it's definitely something to think about going forward.

 

To me, the Pats are the cream of the crop when it comes to sustained success.  They are the ones who set the example, so why should we ignore that?  Of course they are an aberration...It is extremely difficult to do what they have done.  Only a few teams can be at the top.. And they have a system that is easy to plug guys into???  Everyone wants that!!  In this age of free agency, everyone needs to have a system and a budget that allows people to be replaced!  We just have to wait and see if Gettleman does that.  Maybe i am being too optimistic, but I really do trust Gettleman.

dude has 3 blown knees.....TD isn't a young 30.  He is an old 30. 

 

But with all the missed playing time from rehabbing he hasn't seen as much wear and tear on the reconstructed knees.

 

And as we saw last season he doesn't look worse for the wear.

Name another team that's letting half their starters walk and bringing in NOBODY

Every year in the NFL.

This is the modern day NFl.

Thanks to the salary cap, teams are no longer able to keep teams together.

Every year it's a reload.

Some more than others.

Our defense will keep this team very competitive, while our offense comes together.

Quit the belly aching in March.
