"Cheap" FA Options

Give me two of these and a 1st or 2nd round draft pick and I'd be ok with the receiving core.

Jones is the obvious name on that list but I wouldn't mind looking at a athlete like Simpson. Good size/speed combo really impresses me. Haven't watched enough of him to talk on how his routes and hands are.

Ford could come in and help replace Ginn. Blazing speed and could be a threat in return game. Slot receiver type due to size.

James Jones (Packers)
Kenny Britt (Titans)
Jerome Simpson (Vikings/Bengals)
Jacoby Ford (Raiders)
Donario Alexander (Chargers)

If I had my choice I would want Jones/Simpson and Ford. Then use 2 or 3 round pick on WR

Alexander is more injury riddled than Rice.

If were serious about building around Cam we need to be seriously thinking about Nicks and Edelman since Ginn has now left the building too.

They're both young enough to be giving decent money too without putting us in cap hell.

Sorry, this doesn't go here, But I need to say this. I'm really really hoping that Gettleman finds us some bonefide WRs from somewhere on this planet. Whether it be in the draft, FA, the CFL or wherever. When the dust settles and the season begins, we had better not have a problem with our passing game. If we do, the backlash that you think he's enduring now will be minuscule to what he'll get if we don't have production from our wideouts.

As much as it pains me to say this, and I'm forcing myself to look at this with my glass 1/2 full, we will miss Smittys intensity on the field/leadership more than anything. Nobody can energize our crowd like Smitty did. We could be down 35-7 and the man catches the ball, spins it on the ground and smacks his helmet, and if you closed your eyes for two seconds you'd think he just scored the game winning TD.

Sorry in advance if my post derails your thread OP. I don't have thread creating abilities just yet. To my fellow fans, we're just going to have to wait and see what happens. We sang Gettlemans praises last year, let's see if he can wow us once again. It's hard to think that will be possible with what we've been left with. We are and traditionally always have been a "build through the draft" type of team. It's hard to have faith now, but let's all hope this FO and our scouting department can pull several rabbits out of the hat before September.

Not if Cam has something to say about it. I think all that is probably what people are saying Getts wants to happen. Let Cam be the one to fire up the crowd etc. No one has more fire to win than Cam.

No to any Pats WR's. Products of system/Brady.

He won't see the same amount of targets here for sure but he can catch the football (67% catch rate) and he has some YAC ability. Plus, he's a very good punt returner and we need one of those now too.

There aren't many young guys on the market with proven production, he's 27 and you know he won't be a "distraction".
