That, and worse.

Wanna have a negative opinion?  Fine.  Just write it out like an adult.

Wanna make childish statements and throw tantrums like a five year old?  You deserve to be called out.

In this thread alone I'm seeing way more aggression and childish antics from posters supporting not signing Britt.

If you haven't seen the childish whining from the merry band of Gettleman haters that has been rampant on this board for a month then you must be new here.

I am, and from reading through threads is kind of funny. The "Gettleman haters" state why they don't agree with X decision and the "Gettleman lovers" come in and insult them (chicken little, sky falling, sarcastic posts that have no input to the topic) while arrogantly posturing. I keep reading posts such as "it's march", but what's the point of having a forum if you can't discuss the Carolina Panthers, especially in the off-season? It's kind of ridiculous how "go along with the program" it is here.

So if a "Gettleman hater" approach to discussion is I hate Gettlemanand he's an idiot because we didn't sign any WR in FA and who is Cam gonna throw the ball to, and my rebuttals to that is it's only March, let's wait and see how the rest of the offseason plays out before pushing the panic button or firing our GM, how is what I'm saying any less relevant for discussion than what some knee jerk reactionary is saying?

This is a board for Panthers discussion you are right, but you are trying to marginalize people whose football discussion on April 2nd mostly involves reality. As in, let's scrape the FA bargain bin, and let's see what happens in the draft before freaking out. There's nothing in that stance that means some of us are towing the company line or that we are FO yes men. Some of us have a level head and don't freak out because we didn't sign a receiver to a $24MM contract with $16MM guaranteed that if history is any indicator, he is going to ask for a new contract after one season anyway.

Well I think it's more of how this board runs. It seems things have gotten out of hand and camps have formed. I don't know, it really just feels split here to the point that when one side tries to make relevant discussion it spirals into flames pretty quickly. Even from your post I'm seeing you be a bit defensive, but I'm not trying to insult you.

I'm not defensive in the least. You said this is a message board for Panthers discussion, so I'm trying to have a discussion. You said that the camp of people that dislike Gettleman's decisions have well thought out reasons on why they don't like move x or move y. Forgetting just how unrealistic that statement is for the sake of discussion is fine, so we will move forward on the assumption that that is true.

You say that people that support Gettleman devolve to name calling and say our focus is just go with it and it's only March, but you are saying it with a negative connotation. So my question to you again is why is my opinion of "it's way, way too early to be pressing the panic button, let's see how the offseason plays out first" any less valid than someone's opinion of "we have no weapons for Cam, is he going to be on the Jets or Cowboys when his contract is up?".

Surely you as a level headed observer and knowledgeable football person can see why the constant, incessant comments like that can make even the most eloquent wordsmith resort to calling these people idiots.

I'm all for debate and grown up discussion, but you are admittedly new here and I'm assuming you haven't seen the rash plague of people coming in here wanting to burn down the stadium and move the team to LA and fire Gettleman because he let Steve Smith go or because we didn't sign Hakeem Nicks.

It has been cut into camps because in the age of smartphones and twitter and social media, people want everything now and if you can't get it now there is often times no rational discussion to be had.

When I was young, we called it a tantrum. Try to have a logical debate with a child throwing a tantrum because it's nap time and let me know how many of your well thought out and structured talking points you get through before resorting to treating the child like a child and just putting them to bed.

That's what it's been like here the last month. And this is in no way meant to be disrespectful to you personally, all new people are welcome here. I'm just telling it like it is.

Has anyone here actually said that he sucks or is this being inferred from posters not liking that he didn't pick up Britt?

In these threads, you will find our resident three-year-olds in full tantrumiffic form.

There's plenty more where those came from. Pretty sure there was also a thread entitled "Fug Gettleman" but I can't find it.

Looks pretty even sided. Reactionary posts aren't necessarily invalid, and are opinions.

Stuff like this...

I mean LMFAO. What is happening right now? Fug Gettleman

He's probably the lowest paid GM in the league.

What if he's trying to set Cam up for failure so he can run him out of town?

...strikes you as "even handed"?

And yes, it was March when people said these things.  It's April now, meaning there are still months of free agency and the Draft yet to come, a fact which makes all the panic and whining look pretty silly.

Yes, people have a right to their opinions, and other people ave a right to opinions about those opinions.  And believe me, this is an extremely small sampling of the silliness that's gone on this year.

I'll say it again: When you throw out childish crap like a lot of the garbage we've seen this year, you fully deserve to get called out.

I'm seeing plenty of childish, sarcastic posts by those making fun of people that are freaking out. It's not like it's completely unwarranted. Right now we may have the worst WR corps and offensive line on paper in the league. It also doesn't help that Gettleman cut Steve Smith, easily the most popular player the Panthers have ever had.

Just the idea that you're trying to argue with me over what I've stated I've seen is a bit much. Opinions are opinions, unless they're insults, sarcasm, and childish antics such as trying to make every statement that you don't agree with seem foolish.

"I'm concerned about our receiver corps."

Not foolish.

"Fug Gettleman!  He sucks! Why didn't he sign (this guy I like)?  He hated Steve Smith!  He doesn't like Cam.  He obviously doesn't care about winning this year!"

All very foolish, deserving of ridicule, and all statements that have been made on this board this offseason.

Frankly, I don't really care who's got the worst unit anywhere on the team in April.  Right now 90% of the league has holes somewhere on their roster.  They, and we, have until September to fill them.

If we stil look bad in August, then I'll worry.

Usually the first year(s) of a new GM aren't credited to them for fault or success. Our best players that year were the core that Hurney left. Hurney made huge mistakes, signed awful contracts, but he also gave us a lot of star players.

Britt for that cheap is hard to pass up. There's been many "headcase" players that have turned it around.

you mean those same core guys that went 7-9 the year before?  You don't want to give credit for the 6 or 7(not including rookies) players brought in last year on one year deals that came in and made a significant impact?

Cheap, as in almost half of your remaining salary cap is hard to pass up for an injury-ridden, guy who can't stay out of trouble?
