Brian Strickland of panthers.com gives ideas in computerized mock

Drafttek.com offers a seven-round consensus mock draft and has just rolled out the ninth version of it. The website "uses a computer model to simulate a 7-round 2014 NFL Mock Draft. Each team has an analyst who supplies data on 2014 NFL Draft team needs. The team needs are matched up against a list of 2014 NFL Draft prospect rankings in order to generate each selection."

In other words, it – like virtually every mock draft – relies heavily on perceived team needs rather than the best-available-player model the Panthers advocate.

You can hit the link for alternate prospects, but here is your spoiler:

1. Morgan Moses, T

2. Devante Adams, WR

3. Billy Turner, T

4.Will Sutton, DT

5. Chris Watt, G

6. Bene Benwikere, CB

7. Matt Hazel, WR

That's a decent draft, especially the first three, but I think that we go a different way in the 4th.

This mock is geared towards the O-line.  I guess that's why it's being hated.  Not sexy enough, I guess. But if Cam is going to stay upright, I  wouldn't complain.  Adams is a good prospect with good hands.  Hazel would be the guy that helps stretch the field.

Yes, draft a bunch of OL that may or may not pan out to give Cam plenty of time to throw to NOBODY, lol.

If we picked up another WR in the 4th or 5th it may look a lot better.

Guys like Coleman, Latimer, Bryant, Street, Campanaro and Janis may still be available.

I agree if you pick up another WR in the 4th this draft would look better.

Our OL is bad, but having two career #3 WRs (at best) as your starters, in my mind, necessitates that the first pick (or two) be a WR.

I could be very wrong, but IMO, you're a lot more likely to find a solid OL starter deep in the draft than a WR that would make a significant impact as a rookie.

    • damn I wish somebody would sign him. This has been going on for weeks.    I think if the team wanted to sign him we probably would have heard something about interest on our part.    Or any TE. It looks like they have set that room. And we have taken guys two years running, a guy like this would be blocking them. We need to see if they have it or not. And we should see if Tremble is gonna ever do anything.      In general, with the TEs
    • Dude, there aren’t rose colored glasses big enough for you to call this “not a bad draft.” BC was not a good pick. He was taken with the 6th pick in round 3 and he’s been a backup OL. Tremble also wasn’t a win. Another 3rd rounder who’s easily replaced. Only reason either of them started games is because of injuries or a lack of a better starter. Chuba’s got heart but he’s had one solid year behind a solid run blocking unit. Other than that he’s underwhelmed and like we saw with Dowdle and Foreman, it’s not hard to find cheap pickups who perform as well. Horn has been a good starter but honestly that draft had so many solid starters we could have taken. With as many picks as we had, him and Chuba is absolutely a bad draft. We needed OL and BC and Brown was a terrible effort. You clearly didn’t watch the Senior Bowl if you thought Brown had a chance in the NFL. The huddle draft folks wanted Humphrey and Smith and instead we got crap and Mahomes was the winner.
