Pre-Draft Lull

The first round of the 2014 NFL Draft is a little more than two weeks away (17 days to be exact) so if you're going around the internet looking for football news, you may want to give it a rest for a while.

The last few weeks before the draft don't generally see a lot of action in free agency.  So outside of draft day speculation or some unexpected scandal/arrest, pro football news may be kinda hard to come by for the next sixteen days.

Granted the draftniks may have a fair share of fodder for discussion.  But if that's not your thing, these next few weeks are likely to drag.

I think it was Mark Twain who used to talk about there being "liars, damn liars and statisticians".

These days, I'd add NFL personnel guys to that list.

I believe that came from a former Prime Minister of Great Britain.

The S--t Storm

...if Gettleman makes picks Huddlers don't like.

Normally the draft would have either been this past weekend or next weekend.  But this extra 2 weeks is killing me.

Overall I think moving it back was a good idea, but right now...yeah :(

More time to learn about players. I'm going to take advantage. I'm starting to think this L'Damian Washington kid out of Mizzou might be a nice 6th or 7th round snag. I want a lot of competition at receiver and we need more size.

"This is definitely a receiver with a chance to be very good in a few years, especially if he lands with a team ...like the Panthers"

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
