Gettleman hired as Panthers GM

CHARLOTTE - The Carolina Panthers announced Wednesday that Dave Gettleman has been named the team's general manager.
Gettleman comes to Carolina from the New York Giants where he served as the Senior Pro Personnel Analyst last season after working as Director of Pro Personnel the previous 13 years.
"I was very impressed with Dave's experience and think he will be a very good fit for our organization," Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson said. "He has an extensive background in personnel and comes from an organization in the New York Giants that I hold in high regard and played an instrumental role in their success."

I'm looking forward to seeing how the team is moulded to fit in with his plans and it will hopefully make the 30 odd weeks to teh start of next season that little bit more interesting!
Finally we pilfered a piece of a winning franchise to help choose our personel. It's about damn time.

Polian's having a good week as his front office tree just grew with Gettleman and Telesco getting jobs.
Yeah, and they may also be waiting on a couple more front office hires that Gettleman brings in.
one thing i don't expect is for him to be as out in the public eye as hurney was.
that might bother some, but i've got no problem with it.
Be prepared fans for at least 2 years to recover/turn around the Cap mess the Panthers are in, in 2013!
I just found out b/c my friend mentioned it in passing and I immediately became pissed that I didn't already know.
Anyway, I'm excited with all of the reviews from former peers, but I definitely am concerned about his age. I also don't prefer Beane to be the heir to the job as I would rather hire another guy like Gettleman who has a proven track record of finding and allocating talent. But, that's not a concern right now... Overall, really excited about the hire.
