TBH, I think there are a LOT of red flags with his focus on being a social media brand rather than his focus on being a football player. The antithesis of this was definitely Jaycee Horn. I remember all of his rookie vids being working out with top CB's and the reports of him being a sponge for info from the vets. That's elite mentality. XL does not have that, hence why I am generally so negative about him.

So few of the guys pan out after the 3rd round. I really never put too many eggs in those baskets, minus some exceptions.

I think we’re reaching here. He’s a second year WR who had some ill timed moments where he choked. That’s nothing to do with the jugs. That’s nerves and taking your head out the game. He knows how to catch a ball. He just has to adjust the NFL pressure.

I didn’t hate the pick. I like the dude and think he’s a cool cat, but this validates everyone who has said that he lacks a dawg mentality. It also helps to explain why he would snag some really difficult catches and drop others that look pretty routine. I sincerely hope he has truly committed to becoming a professional because I know Coker enjoyed the read.

I take it as he always had really good hands in college so he took it for granted and focused on routes and other things that are actual adjustments from college to pros and his catching focus suffered from it. Of the end of the world if he gets back on track.

I think they just find guys that are most likely to get opportunities and it is an easy pick here with how our linebacker room looks right now.

That's what I meant with the tuck. It should be muscle memory. I hope he turns out to be the star we all hope him to be. He's a player my wife has attached to, so I am definitely rooting for him.

Demani can end up being a player, the opportunity is there for him, I think he would be the best FS we have.

How many rookies do you think this happens to? After you get drafted you think you have made it. It's encouraging for him to realize the folly of his ways, let's see if he can capitalize.

Meh I would rather hear him admit his mistakes than just pretend like he's been doing everything right. All that matters are the results on the field. Let's see that and go from there before bashing him just for being honest.

While most will understand that he has learned from mistakes as a rookie, others who did not like the pick to begin with will use this to fuel their hatred.

I understand your point but I’m not one to criticize grammar. Particularly that from XL. I took it to be an honest admission and answer. We 100% agree XL Is flawed and like you, I’m not very high on him either regarding his ceiling but I’m not gonna poo on him for being honest and saying he has regrets about some things and wants to change and get better. My question is can he get better and what does that look like.

Two ALARMING things here ... "Oh man, it’s always been something I’ve done, and I don’t know why, but I felt like I could take a little breath,' " 1) He had this mentality as a ROOKIE, when you've accomplished NOTHING to take a "breath". and 2) That he is STUPID enough to admit it. "Jugs" work to receptions in an NFL game is as "jugs" work in a strip club are to getting a girlfriend. They both make you feel good, but neither is practical in real life.

Dean Jones of Cat Crave does provide a relatively lot of Panthers content. Granted, some of it seems like forced filler with a "clickbaity" title, but he provides food for thought sometimes. But we're not necessarily either good or deep at the position on paper, and like Dean Jones thinks, I expect us to add an experienced vet. But I'd like to ask the opinions of the Huddle, of which many are South Carolina fans, does Martin-Scott have a realistic chance of being a replacement level LB, much less a legit NFL starter. You've seen him play, so what's the deal?
