  1. Past hour
  2. That is a big HELL NO. As bad as XL was this season, at least he adds a dimension that the coaches can use for specific plays. Coleman is just as bad, yet adds zero diversity to our receiving corps. I’ll take the guy that at least cares enough to show up to meetings. Getting traded to a new team won’t change either of their work ethics.
  3. I don't think there is any real reason to amend the rule. If you do, the teams will just find a way to abuse it. All the Browns have to do is just interview SOMEONE to "get through" the process. Hell, interview Jim Caldwell if that's what the actual goal is, just to get around it. Also, they have all of the candidates required for the Rooney Rule in Aden Durde and Nate Scheelhaase. They are in full compliance already. Scheelhaase is already scheduled for a second interview, for that matter.
  4. I don't know about the stans but he's at times been like 60 percent of the offense on a playoff calibre team. He put up 1202 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, then had effing 102 receptions for 924 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. He touched the ball 413 times this season (an average of 24 times per game.) Then you have to add in that he's a hell of a blocker when called upon. Without him, the injury depleted 49ers in a hot NFCWest division don't make the playoffs at all. If that isn't the Most Valuable Player on the team then who should be? The idea that it is an award solely for QBs is just narrow. Edit to add: Will he win it? No.
  5. How about we just dump XL in whatever way we can and avoid Keon Coleman? What is the point of taking one of the dumbest and least capable WR's in the NFL and replacing him with a guy that wants to play in the NFL about as much as XL? Maybe shoot higher than Keon Coleman for an XL replacement.
  6. He has missed 22.5% of his games with the 49ers versus the 26.1% of his overall games with us. I would say that he has definitively proven to be an injury prone RB. He was actually realistically probably worth less than we got for him. Also, to compare to other HOF caliber contemporaries: Derrick Henry: 8.2% of his career games missed. Saquon Barkley: 20.3% of his career games missed.
  7. I don't think either of those AFC teams stand a chance against either of the NFC teams. The NFC is dramatically stronger in the remaining teams.
  8. I know you are a Bryce homer but the games are even worse. I don't even recall Darnold at the Jets being that shook and uncomfortable. That's the worst composure I have ever seen and that's living through Jeff Lewis and ghost of David Carr. No offense but that ascent is pretty minimal. He's ascended to still being a bottom 5-6 QB. The "overall" part isn't questionable, no one should be arguing overall body of work vs. Bryce. The fact that he fell off a cliff with a cakewalk to a Super Bowl appearance is a big problem. Literally historically bad. That's not nothing.
  9. I would have normally agreed on the "far superior" but that run in the playoffs made me re-think that view. Bryce looked like he belonged on the field most of our game and CJ never did at almost any point. Either way, as I have said repeatedly, I no longer view the 2023 QB class with the "what should have been" and I view the 2024 class of which we rightfully earned our spot at #1 overall as the one that got away. Now those are amazing first round QB's.
  10. I would disagree and the trends in the NFL would also disagree. 6th and 7th round is a common area to throw a dart at QB's because it is a very low risk, very high reward position. Most of the type of guys you are talking about have extremely low hit rates and also are of substantially less value than finding a good 2nd string QB would be.
  11. Today
  12. Makes me think. Some of these guys obviously know they are just being asked to interview to satisfy that requirement. People say going through the process, even under those circumstances, is beneficial as a learning experience and preparation for a legit opportunity. But after you have done a couple, you probably don’t want to do any more if you think it is just for the rule. So you turn them down. Results in the Browns’s dilemma. I think the rule should be amended to: teams have to request interviews, not necessarily have them. In the case of no one wanting to do one, you tried. A certain number of requests go out, but none get accepted, that should do it for them. You can place requirements on how many requests you need to send out, who the requests go to… no quality control assistants or that type of thing. Legit coaches at a level where it makes sense. Satisfy that and you are free to hire your coach.
  13. CJ is still a has been a better overall QB than Bryce.
  14. The Browns are scrambling to find a coach to interview to satisfy the Rooney rule and none of the candidates are better than Evero which is super sad for them and maybe good for us
  15. He said pass rush is the number 1 need and considering that is one of the main reasons they lost the playoff game I would agree. Rams didn’t let Derrick Brown beat them on the final drive a second time and the panthers have no one else who can get to the QB consistently
  16. He had 5 fumbles vs Pittsburgh and was fortunate his defense dominated the Steelers.
  17. Objection to taking late round QBs noted. Can we note how shitty our QB room is?
  18. Fair enough, QB is just not a position where you chase physical traits, imo. You either can process and not throw picks in important situations or you cant. Would rather gamble on position like C, NT, or some run stuffing LB in the late rounds. You know their role, albeit limited, and can build around your core guys.
  19. Also lol, fwiw… it might not be statistically true but it seems like, from memory, that our offense was better with Foreman lol.
  20. Can’t argue. That’s what we have been doing at QB.
  21. That's the Panther way. Maybe he will be better next year!
  22. I'd rather get another possession Wr vet and give Jimmy Horn more snaps. Trade XL for a 4th or something and take a shot on O-line or ILB/secondary in the draft.
  23. Don't really miss him, oh well. He'll be a talking head on tv, so we'll see him every week after he retires.. Running backs are a position you don't need a lot of money tied up in.
  24. I would have even ran Nystrom in that shootout lineup in addition to Aho and Ehlers.
  25. If you want to go with addition by subtraction, you are saying that no one should trade For him. More or less. Release him if it is that bad. I don’t think it is yet though. He should get a last chance to respond by committing himself in the offseason and coming into practices and camp and producing. At or near what is expected from a mid second rounder. Or third. It is kind of like Bryce, he will not ever live up to the cost of his acquisition. To me the mistake is a blip compared to the magnitude of the Bryce mistake and I can’t be but so upset over it. I am like, oh well it happens to every team.
  26. Quay is a very good LB and great at getting after QBs and vs. the run. If we didn't run such soft zone coverage and put our LBs in position to cover so often, Walker would be great. Truthfully, if Wallace or Quay's LB partner was a great coverage LBer, Walker would be great here. He stepped up recently in GB and is still young enough to be around for awhile.
  27. Coleman is much better than XL. Coleman is also Diontae Johnson level head case. So no.
