  1. Past hour
  2. That roster was billed as a super smart and strong unit for a young QB….until he sucked though. it didn’t have superstars but it had proven vets that checked well all the safe boxes and it was universally agreed the Panthers were putting him into position to succeed. BY just doesn’t fit a traditional O because he isn’t built like a traditional QB. And he still doesn’t. CJ Stroud would have had more success here than Bryce with that cast.
  3. looks like the Lions and Bangles should forget about the playoffs, trade everyone they can, and start over.
  4. Ball game. College football, I have missed you so.
  5. WR: Nico, Woods, Tank (R) TE: Schultz OL: Tunsil/Howard/Deiter/Mason/Fant vs. WR: Chark, Thielen, Mingo (R) TE: Hurst OL: Icky/Zavala (R)/Bozeman/Jensen (R)/Moton Panthers' had the better OL before losing BC week 1 and AC week 4 which is kind of ironic considering how in the following year DB went down in W1 and Shaq in W4 resulting in the defense going all to Hell. CJ has done amazing in Houston, but he also wasn't asked to carry Zavala, Jensen, Mingo, Hurst, and Chark as a rookie. Him and Bryce both got their vets (Woods/Thielen), but their WR1s (Nico vs. Chark) and rookie WRs (Tank vs. Mingo) couldn't have been further apart.
  6. Past 5 seasons, IMO CJ Stroud and Joe Burrow are the 2 best young QBs that have emerged in the league in that window. They also didn’t need vets to be their primary pass catchers. They helped fellow youngsters be great at WR. almost all the other young QBs have been paired up with vets in their top options….and haven’t been as promising. so it isn’t Madden. But the league hasn’t played out as you suggest it does. Good QBs make others around them better.
  7. In 2023 their roster wasn’t stacked. They nailed the poo out of the 2023 draft and since they knew Davis Mills wasn’t the guy, they tanked properly to get pick 2. They also took Cleveland’s ridiculous offer for Watson unlike us with Burns. Houston received enough draft capital to jump up to 3 while picking up the right guys in Anderson and Stroud. The Texans were not stacked or better than us in 2023. They had 11 total wins from 2020 to 2022. They didn’t have a terrible front office so they made sure they got their QB of the future while tanking well and getting more draft picks. They are a textbook study of what we should have done in 2022/2023 offseason even though people in here still think tanking is a bad word and our culture would be bad if we were the Texans. We literally had the chance to be the Texans right now and fuged it up.
  8. Lol. This kills me. If Thielen is our most reliable WR, that’s a problem. We’ve spent two 1sts and found a gem of an UDFA in our last two drafts above and beyond the trading DJ Moore and multiple 1sts and 2nds for Young. Thielen isn’t going to be part of any future we have and if we can’t survive losing him for a 4th, that says more about us needing a new QB and another 2 WRs. After our past 3 drafts, that’s better not be the case. Either we’ve got the young WRs and QB or we don’t. Keeping Thielen at age 35 shouldn’t be a priority unless you are saying Legette, TMac and Young can’t produce without him.
  9. Today
  10. So where would Tank and Nico be on this team's depth chart? At least 1 and 3 with TMac. 1 and 2 if TMac needs a little time to adjust.
  11. "If the Panthers trade Adam Thielen, their top 3 WRs will be a rookie and two second-year guys. All talented, but that's a lot to put on them. Not to mention CAR is trying to build on Bryce Young's strong finish in '24. Dan Morgan shouldn't just hand Thielen back to Minn." Joe Person
  12. Yeah, but we haven't had a Nico or Tank level player here since Smitty. Coker and XL have potential, but they're projects. Hopefully TMac is closer to a good NFL receiver out the gate.
  13. I love the time between preseason and the start of the regular season where the Panthers are not a losing team. We only get it for a short period each season but it is truly a magical time.
  14. Maybe this will help? I dunno I'm headed to work so can't watch yet
  15. Games been a snooze fest of sloppy play
  16. ESPN's David Newton: QUARTERBACKS (2): Bryce Young, Andy Dalton A preseason muscle injury to Dalton's right arm could force the Panthers to keep Jack Plummer if the issue gets worse, but that currently doesn't seem to be a concern. For the first time since going No. 1 in 2023, there is no question that Young is the starter after winning two of his final three games last season with 10 touchdowns (7 passing, 3 rushing) and no turnovers. RUNNING BACKS (3): Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, Trevor Etienne Selecting Etienne in the fourth round out of Georgia makes veteran Raheem Blackshear a likely cut. Etienne has shown in the preseason that he is a capable option as a runner, in addition to being a returner, which has been Blackshear's primary responsibility since 2022. WIDE RECEIVERS (7): Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, Adam Thielen, Jalen Coker, Jimmy Horn Jr., David Moore, Hunter Renfrow This is the most improved group on the team, so keeping seven initially makes sense. If the Panthers go with six it could make coach Dave Canales' favorite, Moore, expendable with Renfrow showing he's close to the level he played in 2021 when he made the Pro Bowl with the Las Vegas Raiders. Brycen Tremayne, who's had an excellent preseason, will be a tough cut. TIGHT ENDS (3): Tommy Tremble, Ja'Tavion Sanders, Mitchell Evans There is anticipation Tremble (back surgery) will be ready for the regular season after coming off the PUP list before the preseason finale, though he could still miss a game or two. Keeping him on the 53-man roster makes sense so she doesn't have to miss the first four games. OFFENSIVE LINEMEN (10): T Ikem Ekwonu, G Damien Lewis, G Robert Hunt, C Austin Corbett, C Cade Mays, T Taylor Moton, T Yosh Nijman, T-G Brady Christensen, G Chandler Zavala, G Jarrett Kingston Injuries to guards Lewis (strained shoulder) and Zavala (knee) plays a factor in keeping 10 instead of the nine predicted going into camp. The starting five returning from 2024 had a solid preseason, but the lackluster play of backups showed depth remains a concern. DEFENSIVE LINEMEN (6): DE Derrick Brown, NT Bobby Brown III, DE Tershawn Wharton, DE A'Shawn Robinson, NT Cam Jackson , DE Jaden Crumedy A shoulder injury that has kept fifth-round pick Jackson from making an impact means Crumedy could make it here. The biggest cut will be Shy Tuttle, who has 32 starts the past two years but little to show for it. Moving on from him will create $2.4 million in cap space that can be used elsewhere. LINEBACKERS (10): OLB D.J. Wonnum, OLB Patrick Jones II, OLB Princely Umanmielen, OLB Nic Scourton, OLB Thomas Incoom, ILB Christian Rozeboom, ILB Trevin Wallace, ILB Claudin Cherelus, ILB Jon Rhattigan, ILB Jacoby Windmon The release of ILB Josey Jewell (concussion protocol) at the start of camp required immediate attention, but Rozeboom has stepped up well. Depth remains a big question, particularly inside. Moving on from draft pick Bam Martin-Scott means he'll likely end up on the practice squad. It was time to move on from OLB DJ Johnson. Look for turnover beyond the starters here. CORNERBACKS (5): Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, Chau Smith-Wade, Shemar Bartholomew, Corey ThorntonJackson has played well enough at times to ease the concern opposite Pro Bowler Horn. Thorton's play during camp has been a big surprise, but the overall depth of this group means there likely will be turnover. SAFETIES (4): Tre'von Moehrig, Nick Scott, Demani Richardson, Lathan Ransom The big question is how long it will take fourth-round pick Ransom to replace Scott as the starter opposite Moehrig. Also, don't rule out another experienced player being signed. SPECIALISTS (3): K Ryan Fitzgerald, P Sam Martin, LS JJ Jansen Big-legged undrafted free agent Fitzgerald out of Florida State may have solidified his spot over Matthew Wright with a 52-yard field goal in the second preseason game against the Texans. The other two spots are solid, but Carolina likely will keep an eye out for dependable veterans who end up being released.
  17. Holy poo Is it raining grease? Neither team can hold on to the ball.
  18. The foward pass is a close second for being mia
  19. 2022 HOU WRs: Nico Collins, Brandin Cooks, Phillip Dorsett, Chris Conley, Johnny Johnson, Tyron Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Chris Moore, Amari Rodgers, Jalen Camp 2023 HOU WRs: Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, Johnny Johnson, John Metchie, Steven Sims Drafting Stroud was huge but rebooting their WR room and solidifying the OL also made Stroud's life better for the Texans as well.
  20. Avery Johnson is a lot of fun to watch. Ball security does not exist in this game tho
  21. Stroud makes alot of there players better. Look at there wr stats before and after stroud. That draft pic alone changed their entire team crazy to look at the before and after stroud texans.
  22. Sounds like a safe space.
  23. The front office cant have some young guy with a live arm come in here and make Young look bad I guess.
  24. I want to laugh and hope it’s a joke but somehow I believe this to be true.
  25. Eh. Ultimately they got abused badly when they faced a more stout contender in the Ravens last year. I watched that one and while they have made improvements to that roster it's still a work in progress. And ultimately they are an injury or two away from tough predicaments like any other team. And they have dealt with that along the way. And let's consider that for a moment. For so long now we've used injuries or lack of depth as an excuse for bad football. But there are other teams out there that while they might stumble a bit they don't utimately fall down a flight of stairs to the cellar because of it. Our Panthers however? Well you know.
  26. I don’t think anyone thinks Perkins can play with the first unit and succeed. Everyone pointing out the fact he looks better than Plummer with only two practices. I was really pulling for Plummer to figure it out and take Dalton’s spot at QB2. Oh well, there was a reason they brought in Perkins.
