I ain't counting any chickens yet but this draft is already vastly exceeding my expectations. -

If we land starters consistently from two of our first three picks and a sprinkle of starters and backups from the rest, it's a pretty solid draft, imo, allowing for a couple misses without crippling is. More than that and it starts to approach excellent territory. 2025 is already looking great on those counts -
We ran multi front defense like normal. A lot of big nickel with three safeties from multiple fronts. Saw a 2-2-7 disguised look, 4 man fronts and a few with Nick dropping into coverage, some base 3-4 looks as well.

This year's draft is already looking much better than last year's. -
This is also not true. Brees deep ball even after his shoulder injury was still better than Bryce’s today. Brees weighed in at the combine at 213, and he didn’t need a month of the Panda Express diet to get there. He also threw at the combine which is something Bryce couldn’t do because of how fat he was. There are a lot of whispers that Bryce played closer to 165 at Alabama, and I can’t imagine he’s heavier than 185 now. Those are not the same physical weaknesses, no matter how many times you say it.

Starters were the big nickel with 3 safeties. Seemed like it got the best talent on the field at one time.

My hope is TMac is a WR1 (looks very possible), Scourton is a solid starting edge (looks also possible), Princely can be a pass rushing specialist (like a better, healthier Haynes), Fitz is our future kicker (looks possible), and Thornton can replace Jackson as CB2 next year (very small sample size but looks good). That would be a huge win and anything else is just gravy. -
I was just refering to the broadcast. I couldn't tell you for the life of me what we actually ran that play.
-
First play from scrimmage was a base 3-4 look.
-
This is unequivocally false on so many levels, we'll just leave it at that. He was bad at deep balls at Alabama and has below average arm strength. He also has problems reading defenses from the pocket. Has poor foot mechanics and gets happy feet too much. I could keep going but those are his major issues.

Et tu, fake stats?

If we have two above average starters from the draft, it was a big win. -
Yeah, the broadcast announced we were set up in a 4-3 (4-2-5 in the graphic) in the opening. We looked a lot better with 4 up front and I hope it long continues that way.

Fair enough. I am convinced with Tet and Scourton surely looks the part. A couple more pan out it will be a great draft. -

I am not ready to say that because we kind of perpetually stay in this cycle of looking for flashes, wishing and hoping. Do I THINK they look better than our normal class to date? Yes. Am I gonna count those chickens based on general Panthers luck? Hell no. I know that I want to keep seeing more of the young guys just to see what we have in general. That I definitely know. -

No need to try to flex. It's early and can't we just be happy to see some promise from our young players? Rookie kicker looks legit, rookie TE caught the GWTD, rookie WR looks to be legit, undrafted rookie CB looked good in limited snaps, rookie edge looks legit and the other has potential. This could be the rookie class we need to jump start this rebuild. -

Bryce was a Fitterer pick. I do believe more could have been done to bring in competition. Most GMs are hit and miss. -
We ran a lot of three safety big nickel looks against Miami. Still a 3-4 base but you won't see base very often at all.

some good news. Greg will call our game Sunday
strato replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have a feeling it will be bittersweet, expecting how that game goes. I haven’t watched any Cowboys football this year. So I am not making a claim specifically on them…. The defensive rankings suggest they are tough against the run and the pass D is the weakness but stats based on yardage can be very misleading. Without looking at their games and results, things like making opposing offenses one dimensional via the scoreboard affect those stats.
