I do not believe there is anyone at any significant level of the organization (fo/staff) that wants this team to lose on Sunday at this point to make Bryce look good. Early in his career he was coddled, yes. But we are still in the playoffs and losing would cause a blow while beating the bills would be amazing And realistically nobody has to worry about The Rusty Rocket really going on a tear, even if we'd like to

I'm down to send a 6th to bring in Howell - 3,946 yards in his season as a starter vs 2,877 and 2,402 from BY in his first 2. He needs to clean up his INTs and he takes too many sacks, but at least he can move the ball. Let DC do his QB whisperer thing on him and see how it goes. Worst case scenario you're not losing out on that much anyway. Also, wouldn't mind bringing in Mariota, but I doubt the Commies would trade him. Daniels has been banged up somewhat regularly and MM has played well when needed. They could still potentially push for a playoff spot, so don't see them giving up a guy they may need to start at QB at some point. Quality backup QB play for a few games could be the difference between them making or missing the playoffs, so doesn't really make sense for them.

Any qb with our run game and current defense can do what he's been doing. Maybe not Hooker because he went to Tennessee but you could sign Heinicke tmrw and get the same production as Bryce next game lol.
-
Bills are 31st in rushing defense. I would be cool with trotting out Hooker and running the option all game.

Greg Cosell: Bryce Young is a complimentary piece
amcoolio replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope not. 3rd-5th round QB's are historically awful. Most of the time that team is just drafting another QB in the first the following year. Look at the Saints, if they continue to suck this year they are just taking a QB. And if they do they just threw away a 2nd round pick that they just drafted. We did the same poo with Clausen, Greer, Pike, that guy we drafted a few years ago who is so irrelevant I forgot his name... Just take a 1st round QB if Bryce isn't the answer and be prepared to live with it -
This reminds me on Madden where you create an alternate uniform and the pre-recorded voice overs talk about how hideous your uniform looks.

There are people on this forum that just want to see a lot of passing yards....number go up. That's all it is, really. They are thirsting for a 350-400 yard game. The idea that Jameis Winston is going to come in and play like a star and lead us to wins is ludacris. He's the 3rd fuging string for a 2-5 team and has played horrible for years now. Sure, passing numbers will go up but you'll also get a lot of dumb plays, pick 6's, and incompletions en route to a frustrating bad offensive performance, just in a different way. I think these people are yearning for another Delhomme situation, and the odds of that happening are very very slim. It's way more likely Howell or Jameis comes in and looks like Jack Plummer or Andy Dalton did in the preseason. There just isn't that much good quarterbacking in this league right now. And if we draft another QB in the first round, there is a good chance they bust. It's not a guaranteed carrot. The reality is, as mediocre as Bryce has been, the risk of bringing someone else in in-season and releasing Bryce becuase you aren't happy with his current performance is staggeringly high. Don't want to re-up his contract and search for a solution in the offseason? Sure, I'm on board. Bryce hasn't been good enough to warrant a second contract. But It is very. very unlikely that bringing someone else in midseason is going to give this team more wins.

I told somebody that today, the old QB adage. If you have two you don't have one. People forget when we had Double Trouble, there still was a clear edge of carry volume going to D-Lo until his departure. NFL is cut throat and if it takes us eventually bailing on Chuba to feature Rico, that decision may have to be made.
-
Exactly zero people on the coaching staff or front office are hoping the Panthers get utterly destroyed. This is why people can't take the constant Bryce bashing seriously. Get a clue
-
Fingers crossed on a Dalton vs. Raiders last year type game against Buffalo. With a healthy dose of Rico against that vaunted 4-2-5 weak run defense we do have a shot!
-
Zero current evidence either way
-
I think that's why they will be worried, as there is no reason for us to have a working passing game with Dalton in there, so if he does, selling people on Bryce becomes that much harder. It's not like bad QB's have good games out of nowhere, especially when it's a backup getting a start, it just happens sometimes and there's no reason it can't happen for Dalton, especially if the Bills focus on our run game and don't prep for him that much.
-
Nah. This team would have found a way to lose this game 10/10 times the last few seasons. They closed out a game on a day in which they didn't play their best (offense). They gave up some plays on defense but made plays when it mattered most. They got 6 sacks against one of the worst pass pro units in the NFL and did what they were supposed to. That is improvement from where we were and that is something to be modestly happy about

The Panthers keeping Dalton around to continue to be the #2 is likely why they don't have to worry much about that ever really happening.

I think they'll split the middle with competition. I'm fairly confident that Carolina drafts another QB next year. But not in the 1st round, but like a good measurables guy in the 3rd-5th rounds. That way, they bring in another young guy, but a mid round pick won't effect any 1st round decisions for 2027. -
The last 24 games - all of last season plus the first 7 weeks of this season - the Panthers haven't beaten a single team with a winning record. They've had the 3rd easiest schedule in the entire league (#1 in the NFC) through 7 weeks. They've faced only 2 teams with winning records, and got absolutely stomped in both of those games. Excuse me if I'm not ready to throw a parade cause you barely squeaked out a close win against the Jets and Dolphins of the world.

I get that. I’m just not convinced we are going to find someone mid season to make us better. Yes, we could probably find a more better physical specimen at the position. At what cost though? Losing a locker-room? Bryce seems pretty popular and a team leader. A move like that will sour alot of the chemistry that this team finally appears to have, perhaps thanks to Bryce? Let me be clear I’m not a Bryce defender. I think his best case is a game manager that only succeeds on teams whose identity is an elite defense and a power run game. I think he’s played good enough though to keep moving this season forward with him.
-
Any Bryce defender on the coaching staff or in the front office is going to be secretly rooting for us to get utterly destroyed if he is out for the game. The worst case scenario for any of them who still want to be starting Bryce is for it to be like when Dalton came in for him his rookie year. If he comes in and lights it up and we look like a real life NFL passing offense, it's going to be really tough to still sell Bryce to the fans or other players.
-
Average or maybe slightly below average?!?!?! In what universe does Bryce has about the 16th best arm among the starting QB's in this league? I honestly don't think there is a single QB with a worse arm, and if there is, it's no more than 2 or 3 of them. I agree with you on his footwork problems, but he flat out has one of the worst arms I've ever seen on a starting NFL QB other than those guys who end up with like 3 career starts over 10 years.
-
The right attitude. I remember he was trying to keep folks level headed after shutting out ATL. The following we we get blown out by the Patriots. No victory Mondays until we can be a consistent winner is a good idea.
-
You want to see... MORE... of the Atlanta game from Bryce this year? You mean the game where he had 121 yards passing on 24 pass attempts and no passing TDs? I think this is a perfect example of too many fans getting too excited about winning games and not actually registering what they're seeing on the field not being good football. We won that game 30-0, yes, but it was not because of Bryce or anything he did

Panthers win and this place is miserable
PadresPanthersFan replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Isn't that how every team wins every game? We've won 4 times vs 4 different teams. We're over 500. My flag is dusted off and up. The jersey is on. For one week it's not sad being a panthers fan. Those that wanna be miserable do your thing. I'm gunna enjoy winning no matter who it's against
