The overall vibe I get from Dave Canales on gamedays is he not a head coach. He's just running the offense and hands off with everything else. At the same time it's challenging to guage specifically where the lack of consistent intensity and aggressive football stems from when the go to defacto leader of the team is quiet unsure of himself and lacks the necessary physical tools to succeed at this level.

it is really difficult to lose 16 games in the NFL no matter how bad you look. The Panthers play enough bad teams to expect another couple of teams to come in, completely eat poo, and let us sneak out with a 16-10 victory or something. Like I can't imagine we lose to the Jets unless their defense just balls out.
-
Why did we even re-sign BC? Did he finger somebody’s butthole? Steal someone’s dog? Kick a coach’s grandma? The reluctance to play him is baffling.
-
So much of this flows from no one having confidence in the QB play. That's why it's time to move on from Young right now. It's killing everything about the team. Trade a late round pick for a backup and roll with them and Dalton the rest of the way.

I’m not sure this new generation would even respond to having their manhood challenged. I could see it becoming an HR issue before it motivated anybody.

honestly, his early mistakes might have completely paralyzed him. hes so afraid of making mistakes that he makes worse mistakes, at that point though, hes mentally broken and he doesnt have the physical tools to pull him out of that hole. Its like a pitcher with the yips, once it hits, they question everything and they never are the same and only the ones with stuff so dominating (100mph fastballs, wipeout sliders, devastating curveballs) overcome it. -
There's some good pieces here, but the team has no direction or leadership, the GM appears to be in over his head, the owner has no idea how to hire the right people for the job and gutted the culture out of the team, the head coach is a decent play caller but not a head coach, and there are crappy QB options in the draft and free agency so we basically have to hope for a miracle. I say forget about the offense and just start drafting defense until the right QB and coach comes along. At the very least you can be a good defensive team with a running game

If the contest requires that you physically impose your will on the opponent, you can't win if you are afraid of ruffling their feathers. This is the most wussified I have ever seen this team. There's no fight, no grit and it's even worse now than it was under Rhule.

Soft, lack of urgency, no intensity all apply. As an example this pic shows 3 panthers around the punt returner and yet he still runs it in for a TD. Basically everyone was just waiting around for something to happen as opposed to making something happen. I think it pretty much sums up the Panthers as a team at this point.

A conditional third round pick?! fugouttahere.

Wouldn't shock me one way or another. I'm just not on board with moving any young players this season. Even Bryce Young. Deal with that after the season. Just bench him turn the page and go to the next guy. See how your receivers and tight ends respond. This is what I had always assumed it would be the last several months. A developmental season for everyone including our head coach. Now see what transpires and figure out who is worth keeping.

Dart, for the Giants, has that swag and confidence that a NFL QB needs he is also not tentative Bryce, forget about it Watching him throw away balls or into the dirt in tight situations or on 4th down, come on man. total chicken poo. Either he can’t do it or he can’t see it . Time to move on. -
That's why we need to scour the scouting department of the whole lot of them along with Mushy-head Morgan.
-
Sadly, you're probably right. Clausen comes to mind. I can still here him screaming like a little girl as the d-linemen chased him around.
-
God I miss Fox ball. We had no idea how good we had it.
-
Maybe. We can only speculate. But I say let the young wide receivers and tight ends sink or swim without question this season. Right now we just need someone that can deliver them passes beyond 10 yards more often than once or twice game.
-
That’s about the only throw little bit can make.
-
There actually has been quite a lot of criticism of Morgan. Him being Fitterer’s former best friend and there with him though many bad moves has been discussed extensively. It's just reached a point where more people now realize he is just a figurehead as was Fitterer and the Tepper's have been and still are pulling strings behind the scenes and heavily involved in major moves and decisions. So long as that exists it really doesn't matter who the GM is.

Dak will turn XL into a top receiver in that offense. That will be the worst thing for us.

Phil Snow is a damn good defensive coach.
-
“The first time he spoke to the Carolina Panthers, John Fox told his new team it simply was not tough enough to win in the NFL”. is echoing in my brain.
-
It's an unpopular opinion but I actually think Phil Snow was a damn good football coach.
-
No no no. Way too negative. Looks about like the structure in Rock Hill.
