  1. Past hour
  2. The entire hype machine around Bryce Young before the draft revolved around the notion that he would not need elite talent to be a good to great quarterback because he was basically a tiny Peyton Manning and all I've seen in this thread and largely for the last 3 years are woe is me takes about how everyone around Bryce stinks and he needs more help. It's exhausting.
  3. ok well then here is a more recent example .the 2011 SuperBowl Champion NY Giants were a #4 seed ( NFCE) & also had the same 9-7 record that the Pittsburgh Stellers currently have just saying ...anything can happen in the playoffs
  4. Alabama covered up a lot of issues he had. Mediocre arm, bad footwork, being short. Alabama’s offense made Mac Jones look amazing. So it is not surprise it could make a QB like Bryce look amazing too. Bryce was a good college QB, but all his issues make him a horrible NFL QB.
  5. Wow had no idea Brady is 30. Makes sense being a BYU kid I guess
  6. It will be interesting to see how both Young and Canales do this Saturday.. do or die win or go to the couch point being, they are playing a team that is wounded, 1 and7, with a beat up qb and coach rumored to be getting fired pressure. Playoff pressure timid and cautious ain’t going to get them into the playoffs good news, they will find out who their gamers are or aren’t.
  7. For sure, but you will never have every position locked up at the 2 deep. Rosters churn constantly and I think we go young on the OL this year and take 2 in the draft while FA is more focused towards the D

  9. I think you would find that old trope is significantly less accurate in the modern era. Don't get me wrong, you are always gonna have a chunk of dum-dums but there are a lot less of those "athletes that can't read" stories than the 80's and 90's. A lot of the development systems around young athletes actually require them to be considerably sharper and there is more focus on the educational aspects because not being able to survive in a formal educational environment is such a career limiting factor. I think the biggest evolution has been the improvements in the support systems around the athletes. The people around them are rarely dismissive of education anymore and a college degree now has the significance of a high school diploma. It's a rather basic component.
  10. I am not a Bryce fan, but I am not a hater either. He's not the worst in NFL history, he's not even the worst starting quarterback this team has had. Look at this list: Frank Reich Kerry Collins Chris Weinke Matt Lytle Randy Fasani Vinny Testaverde Matt Moore Jimmy Clausen Brian St. Pierre Kyle Allen Taylor Heinicke Teddy Bridgewater And he has the highest completion percentage of any Panther quarterback ever. He not great. but worst in NFL history? Come on...... *https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Carolina_Panthers_starting_quarterbacks
  11. TBQH, Jackson is performing almost as well as Horn in terms of coverage. So, although the scheme we run doesn't always allow Horn to be at his best, it does make things easier on others and it has proven to be pretty effective in coverage more often than not. His defense overall is designed to stress the QB's decision making. The biggest complication has been one of the worst front 7 units in the NFL and at times, in the history of our franchise. But, Evero also deserves a pretty healthy chunk of the blame for that because several of these bums have been publicly stated to be "Evero guys." The front seven has to produce a lot of pressure itself and has to be very disciplined in run support. Those are two areas that have generally been quite bad. It's not really the scheme. It's the fact that we have so many bums on that side of the ball and/or play guys in positions we have no business playing them. Again, Evero does get some blame for a chunk of that.

  13. There are probably dozens of folks on here that were saying that pre draft, I mean there are receipts, if you want to get into it go for it but you know there were a ton of folks that were screaming his college production was all a sham. Being the "truth" at alabama doesnt really mean jack fuging poo in the nfl. And the proof is in the pudding as they say. But this poverty ass franchise seems to be content to roll with this shitty midget for 2 more years
  14. I agree he's way too inconsistent right now. I even said he isn't a franchise QB because of it. This whole back and forth is because someone said they could tell Bryce wasn't gonna be a good pro based on how he played in college. And that ain't true. This whole arm issue, not throwing deep and too small to pass over the middle was not an issue in college. Dude was the truth. Obviously all great college players don't become great pros. But in my opinion that's usually either a guy that doesn't have a good work ethic, does dumb stuff outside of football or goes to the wrong team.
  15. 19th in rushing yards allowed and 28th in rushing TDs allowed. 1 more TD allowed on the ground than passing TDs allowed. Kind of obvious why those stats exist. The only good part of the heavy zone is the turnovers IMO. 14th in passing yards allowed and 8th in passing TDs allowed but 20th in allowed yards per attempt. All that gives a clearer picture of thr total picture.
  16. this is where we are with bryce, 40+ games in the nfl and people are still talking about his college career. Thats how far we have fallen. Just cut the cord at this point the dude aint it
  17. Frank? Stop. Context freaking matters. Bryce threw for 400 yards,3 TDs, no INTs to beat Georgia in the SEC championship game like a month earlier that season. Metchie tore his ACL in that game and didn't play in the final game. Then Jamison Williams hurt his knee in the 1st quarter of that final game. Dude still played his tail off against a defense that would have 5 first round draft picks! 5 first round draft picks! With neither of his 2 big targets. 365 yards, 1 TD and 2 picks against that defense with 3rd level receivers is not a bad game. Yes he got in a shootout and lost against an offense with George Pickens, Ladd McConkey, Adonia Mitchell, Darnell Washington and Brock frigging Bowers. All without his top 2 guys, his only 2 guys, Metchie and Williams. Context matters. Name another receiver on that Bama team. And remember, this is before Gibbs.
  18. That’s what this place is. We still have a below average roster, but we have players that have shown really good development. Two years ago this franchise was in a horrible place- worst in the league. But let’s fire the guy responsible for doing that. Spinning the coaching roulette wheel always works out wonderfully.
  19. I got news for you. Most pro football players are dumb as a box of rocks. They are just really good at said football.
  20. Yeah, yeah...I sang that sad song about 3 years ago and it fell on deaf ears. We ride with Bryce until the '27 draft and if we screw the pooch again by not getting our franchise QB in that draft, I may just swear off this eternally cursed franchise. Also, it's odd that the certain guys that lean into one or two stats lines to 'prove' Bryce is somehow a superior QB are not in here defending him on this one. It's crazy how they implore us that Bryce is the man, but our lying eyes just can't see it because we don't understand what we are watching.
