I’d be pretty shocked if he got a HC job.

I don't know if I've every heard someone use the word, "Propaganda" and not mean it in a negative context. The same goes for phrases like "agents of the organization" or "drinking the kool-aid". Even if you're not, it comes across as negative and insulting to Stew. He's never been the type of person to be critical of individuals. Just not his style. Doesn't mean he's trying to pull a fast one, mislead you, or outright lying. Should employees of the Panthers be objective when interacting with fans? Is that even reasonable?

No, both instances of references to the defense were specific to the run defense. I should have said "run defense" the 2nd time. You admit there has been ample personal issue but then use those stats to support your argument. I'm not arguing on the effectiveness of his specific scheme overall. I'm saying he is only now getting the proper personal to run his scheme. The stats are the stats and while I don't disagree with any of what you're saying, 3 years of those stats are based on the Panthers front office not giving him the tools to run a competitive NFL defense until this year with D. Brown getting healthy and the additional of Tre'von Moehrig. I want to see his defense when we don't have multiple key starter positions manned with players who would IMHO are not starting level players. With some talent I say all this while not being a big fan of his scheme. I would prefer a 4-3 but that's neither here or there. And yes, I would call getting requests and interviews from other teams who want to hire him good evidence that he may be a pretty good DC and has a lot of potential as a HC. In 2022 he had HC requests from the Broncos, Colts, and Texans. He also had requests for DC from the Vikings, Falcons and the Panthers. We hired him to be our DC. In 2023 it was the Falcons, Raiders and Seahawks for a HC position. In 2024 the Falcons, Seahawks and the Panthers interviewd him for HC. We blocked the Jags from a DC interview. In 2025 (which is this years hiring cycle) so far its the Falcons, Raiders and just today the Steelers, all for the HC position.

The Giants still may be crap but they just improved somewhat by hiring Harbaugh,

Yeah I was almost going to mention the finger but he did so well last week after whatever they did to it at halftime I let it go. It could get hit and messed up worse, it is a weak point. Weather and home field crowd in Chicago are huge challenges no doubt. I can’t really be confident in LA but the inexperience of Chicago in a game with this stuff at stake is likely to be a factor, enough to make it hard to be confident in them. So who knows….

Your last sentence is the only one that matters. Until the team is ready to give up and move on you will have to watch him out there struggling to make 200 yrds/gm.

Mike Tomlin stepping down as HC of the Steelers
strato replied to methodtoll's topic in Carolina Panthers
And they are cake compared to the HC gig. Paid vacation. Mandatory attendance, but still a relative vacation. I saw where Tomlin met with his players and told them he did not want to coach any other group. Was emotional. So I would say that puts him out of the race at least for this year. Or if he isn’t it paints him as a hypocrite. -
Stroud was pressured like hell against Pittsburgh and they are a FAR better pass rush team than NE. Collins being out will be a thing, for sure. New England is a less effective defense than Pittsburgh. I think it still comes down to which QB fugs up the least. Weather may be a huge factor with LA. Don't forget that finger injury to Stafford too. In that weather, no less.

You realize that it doesn't have to come from the Panthers HQ to be spin? If you live and breath something---basically drink the Kool aid---espousing the company line can come natural.

Should Canalas bring someone else in to call offensive plays?

I would like to see play action from the gun vs under center be accounted for. Completely different animals. -
Hate the Bills with a passion but they’re winning it all this year.

I call a 3rd significant at this point. Might they take a day 3 flier? Possible. 6th, 7th round.
-
Propaganda is the direct implication that this is he being used by the Panthers to spout a message. This is a poor example of that, in my estimation. He is far more likely to just be a homer. This isn't abnormal behavior from him. It's hyperbolic because you are spinning it as some greater thing from Panthers HQ, which is very likely is not.

Practice what you preach.

I am leaning New England because Stroud has to overcome the noise, the weather, missing Collins and they are gonna pressure the hell out of him. I feel like Buffalo and Denver is gonna be a tight low scoring game. Toss up. Seattle at home? Seattle by 10. Bears and Rams? Tough one. Rams defense is suspect at this level, and weather and the crowd is going to be hard to beat. I don’t know. Home field vs mucho playoff seasoning and Stafford? I can’t pick that one either but if I were forced to I go with the experience.

There was only maybe two guys worth "significant" draft capital in this class, one of them went back. This class is deep on Day 2/3 guys.

Incorrect. He was talking about Week 18. -
Even if you're somewhat correct--not totally--it's still not hyperbole. I mean, why does any of this stuff matter? Just something to shoot the sh¡t about.

Hank Hill is a big Cowboys fan. I bet XL would look sharp in those Cowboy whites with the star on his helmet. Are you listening, Jerruh?

I don’t know about the word itself, but people use propaganda as a tool through they can obtain political power. People that do propaganda suck. Stew is biased. He isn’t twisting facts lobbying and trying to fool people, he just has an opinion. I would maybe call him a somewhat of a shill though, when he minimizes negatives to paint the organization in the most positive light he can. He is being paid by the team. Also, he knows the players personally. You aren’t gonna get any controversial negatives out of him publicly.
