Is Mike Jack already the 2nd best trade in Panthers history?

We didn't trade for Greene? I don't think we traded for Lathon either, but I don't remember him as much. -
Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
ForJimmy replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
Mateer is having hand surgery and could miss a month. Then he has to jump in to a tough part of his schedule. Mendoza has a chance to run away with the Heisman race and potential top pick. I still think Dante Moore is about to get some attention. -
Not to mention we probably get Wharton back in a couple games. I believe he is one of our better pass rushing DL. LB is still a glaring weakness, hopefully Wallace starts to put it all together (looked better last Sunday), but he still has a long way to go if he wants to be our long term solution there.

Also - Ransom is one of the rare cases of a guy I really wanted and we actually drafted. Never freaking happens and finally did with him so hope it works out ha.

Premiering right now. Cant wait to watch/listen later!

Lots of reason for optimism with some of the young players on defense. We’re a few guys away from rounding out the unit but the secondary has serious potential. Seems we’re playing better against both man and zone so far, but are still breaking when the pass rush and LB play has been off. ILB will be a big focus in 2026

Yeah we are gonna find out one way or the other I hope. I am of the mind that it will always be this compacted playing field style ball. Non opened up. And you put a guy with the real NFL arm in and it will be obvious, like it was the last two years in week three. if Bryce can do the legit job -not garbage time but in a competitive game - to the degree where people fear him… I will be surprised (and good for him if so). I think it is a tall order pun intended. We have to see some real proof, I hope, before they give him a huge contract. We wring our hands worrying that they will do that on less than rock solid proof that he can play up to it. -

You’re not wrong, hopefully he proves us wrong. But it’s hard to have faith with what he puts on film. If he were to get more creative with his legs and open up avenues I think it could go a long way with us. But he definitely will never be a Josh Allen, Pat Mahomes when it comes to arm talent and ability to make things happen. the good news is big games have been won with ball control, and game managers at QB. So if we can put a roster around him for now we should be able to keep searching for that guy while he holds down the fort. -
If everything is perfect, every QB in the NFL can throw a heater that isn’t too far downfield. Thats not how anyone on Earth talks about arm strength. Cam Newton had arm strength by NFL standards. Bryce doesn’t. It’s not complicated.

Whether it's consistently seeing the field his arm talent his mechanics it all points to a limited player that needs virtually everything to go right in order to possibly begin to overachieve or play at an elite level. Some people are willing to accept average at best but that's not what we're here for. This is a business. -
Last year folks were gaslighting that Bryce was the best deep passer in the NFL despite not ever making plays downfield NOW, he has A+++++++ arm strength one notch down from Brett Favre S Tier arm strength? And people complain people are Bryce “haters” for arguing against all this type wildness lol.

I looked at him and his arm and his footwork, before he was drafted. It was clear then it is clear now. He doesn’t have an arm that can flick a ball down the field using only the arm. I don’t see his arm as good by NFL standards. I see it as something he must overcome. So I quibble with the characterization. What I completely agree with is if he does not do his mechanics and footwork right his velocity and accuracy suffers. If he is diligent and adheres to proper execution, yeah he can make do with his arm. That sort of is what it is at this point. Another aspect of it is he needs to use maximum effort to go downfield or to really drive a ball with any kind of heat. That (max effort) hinders accuracy. I have talked about this before. He is at a disadvantage having to max exert compared to a guy that can use a very repeatable easier throwing motion. Up to him if he can proof the pudding and hang with the big dogs. -

In history? Going back to the beginning I would have to say Kevin Greene and Lamar Latham are just a few that are ahead of him. Even ahead of Olsen. -

Mike Jack is the most underrated player on the roster. I don't know if he's actually that good, but he is thriving as CB2 in this defense. -

I agree at this point winning at all is needed to restore some semblance of confidence and culture. But can we be honest with one another? I am in no way advocating for tanking because it isn't a realistic concept. But how many times now over these last 8 years or so have we won games that ultimately proved to be meaningless to our culture when we opened the following season looking like butt cheeks? Just beating up a bad team here and there or squeaking by a competitve team on occasion is not going to move the needle. Real culture change will happen with sustained success. That begins with competing for our division and the playoffs. -

At the time of the trade, yeah, absolutely. KB was absolutely cooked. Getting anything for him was a win, and a third and seventh is pretty good. I mean Deandre Hopkins went for a 5th. Deebo for a 5th. Jerry Juedy for a 5th and 6th. Davante Adams for a 3rd. KB lasted less than a year with the Bills, and when he was cut, he had the worst catch rate in the league at 35%. -

Just an FYI. The Jaguars only blitzed on 20% of Bryce Young's dropbacks in week 1. -

Probably will not fare well, but if the Panthers can just beat the bad NFL teams and half of the decent teams, this would be a huge improvement and would show progress in the right direction instead of the constant rebuild. -
TMac had an off game and dropped several passes. Also, there is enough film on Bryce and teams know that he will pick you apart if he isn't pressured, so teams are going to pressure him regularly which means short passes.

Yeah, I wasn't taking a shot at him personally, but I don't get the vibe he could produce a 2003 Rams type of game for us -

Mark my words it’s only a matter of time before other teams take TM out of the game with attention/gameplan and the passing game is going to be bad if they don’t find an answer. If only we had a saavy vet that had great hands… -
We didn't get Ransom to sit the bench but he is still learning his fits and responsibilities. He will see more field as he improves. What the defense finally did on Sunday was not have significant breakdowns with players out of place or blown coverages. As he figures that out he will ultimately become the starter because he is a dog and instinctively around the ball.

On a personal level he's a fine human by all accounts but this franchise has experienced the best success in 30 years with vocal leaders in Newton and Delhomme. When someone asks you to name the best leaders on your team and time and time again you find yourself naming anyone but your QB then that's a sign you need to keep looking IMO. And that's not even addressing the lack of physical attributes. -
We should lobby for two team divisions.

Saw this on reddit and not sure of the author but he had the data suggesting in 2025 Bryce throws as hard as most qbs. His issues are not arm strength but poor foot mechanics. Interesting video of his drops and why he goes back to 10 yards. And an analysis of the Arizona game good and bad. Nothing about can't throw off balance or on the run. More about taking care of the ball and trying to do too much which are very fixable like no turnovers by the offense on Sunday.
