Talking about Rattler, he is the perfect sideways move that saves multiple tens of millions and we don’t lose much in performance. in fact we probably get a slight upgrade. It is a punt and a punt is not always a bad play. It doesn’t have to be specifically Rattler but absent a great alternative I want us to punt. Contingent on Bryce not blowing up the next 8 games and sealing the deal. If he performs to his mean, average, whatever, that ain’t good enough. And we should ping.

That's not what I have read. I thought the rookie contracts were for 4 years with a fifth year as an option. So that mean Young will be here next year regardless unless he is traded which I highly doubt happening. As far as his fifth year, there have been examples of a QBs' 5th year being picked up but then they weren't extended. Derek Carr wasn't extended with the Saints in 2018 after they picked up his fifth year. And then there are those that played their 5th year without long term deals: Carson Wentz and Jared Goff both did. As far as not playing, I do not think Young is in any position to not play. He wouldn't get paid for missed time AND he still might need to prove his worth. Am I missing something

You might have been in this discussion about this very subject not that long ago. We were breaking down the ‘NFL’ guys allocated to different SEC teams. It was real lopsided like you are saying. There very well may have been SEC teams that had one or two defensive players, at most, drafted. Not isolated but pretty common. Meanig the Alabama offense was often facing 9 or so players that went on to teach or sell insurance or whatever…

Picking up his 5th locks him in for 2 years simply due to the economics of the situation. What you are suggesting simply doesn't happen. After year 3 a decision is made either short or long term. Its just the way this has shaped out. In short Bryce has 8 games to get his poo together. But like I said earlier the wild card are the teppers.

It does not work like that. For early 1st round QB the after the 3rd year its three things- pay, cut, or trade. 0% chance BY will play on the 5th year, they will force Panthers hand with the last bit of cleavage (lols) Leverage they have. So you can either pay him 200+ mill with around 130 guaranteed or trade him for ..... I guess mid round picks....

Sure, but busting is generally about performance is it not? Many talented players have been robbed of their careers because they got hurt.
-
If we were to go through your post history what percentage do you think might be, at least tangentially, concerning Bryce Young? As in shading people who are not fans or Bryce Young as our QB going forward, or directly responding to the mention of his name or the criticizing of his play, etc etc. ? You don’t contribute to this environment, like ever?

I appreciate the clarification. Still, the way I see it, they have the remainder of this season, all of next year and all of his fifth year IF they pick up his fifth year to evaluate him without having to sign him to a long term deal. I know they have to decide by May on whether to pick up the option, but that doesn't lock them into anything long term. Picking up his option does not mean they are signng him to a 50 or 80M/year deal like some are posting here. Correct?

That was looking rough until the canes killed 1 and then got back to back power plays. That completely changed the period.

He could have thrown a football over them mountains -
key difference is Bryce is better on his feet. the other massive difference, is what the investment in Bryce has afforded him in terms of chances and opportunity. I mean, look at Spencer Rattler. He went to the bench not because he showed less promise than Bryce (he is statistically better than 3rd year Bryce)……but the front office didn’t have all that egg on their face.

Hopefully Ehlers is unclogged now that he scored

Good job Ehlers. That is why I love hockey. You team can be struggling but if you get a chance or break you score and get that boost.
