Taking late round flyers on qbs is the definition of trying to challenge your backup. If you seriously want to get a backup to challenge your current starter you take one in the first round.

I'm not speaking about this QB room alone. This needs to be a policy. I've said before as much as I despise Belichek, he always worked on developing a QB2 that was capable of being a QB1. Brady, Cassel, Jimmy G, all backups that became starters for NE or elsewhere. Personally, I'm not a fan of just having a "backup". Every player is one injury away from ending their career. I would much rather be proactive than reactive with the most important position on the field.

Anyone they take in this draft will never challenge Young for the starting role. If you want someone to do that then it will have to come from next year's draft. Anyone taken in this draft will be lucky to make the practice squad.

The one year contracts are mostly for placeholders until the can draft someone better. Sometimes they get a better FA so they have time to look for a draftee. Case in point, look at the safety we signed from the Raiders. We drafted his replacement the same year in Ransom. Mostly because he was bpa but the rookie needs time to learn from the vet. In time Ransom will take over when Merig is eventually released. There are vets all over the roster that needs a draft pick to eventually replace them.

No matter what we still need a QB2 with potential to be a QB1. Keep throwing QBs at the wall until we find someone who sticks.

Lot of different agendas dictating opinions. I don’t think it was the best use of money with Hunt, specifically, but the concept of OL, I am a fan. I didn’t complain a ton because I am a believer in winning up front, on both sides of the ball. I’d rather have stout fronts than fancy WRs. I have complained some about Hunt not being worth his deal, after seeing him get pushed around in a game or two. It’s no crusade. And have complained in the context of shorting the defense. They have leveled out the FA imbalance with the dual big signings this offseason, and it has always been the draft picks I am most protective of. Anyway The picks are the real imbalance. If you did a trade chart value of the picks we directly gave up for Bryce, and added the support picks invested for skill players, and put that on one side… then put the little 3 3rd rounders and a 2nd that the defense got over three years on the other it would be hugely out of balance. I just want the balance restored. Defense is still owed.

I'm one of the ones that won't let it go because it didn't solve the problem. We didn't address the center position which was a huge mistake. We were in position to easily take 2 or the top IOL. Instead of drafting JPJ over XL or Frazier over Brooks, we relied on an oft injured guard to center conversion and lo and behold, it failed as predicted. XL looks like a 1 year college wonder and an injured Brooks hasn't even surpassed Eric Shelton. Bryce was also benched for poor performance, so the issue that many claimed was solely bad oline play wasn't. It didn't fix him bailing out of tight pockets because of being unable to see the field or him refusing to work on his atrocious footwork. Then there's the $$$. Lewis got a good guard payday. Hunt got a tackle payday. Pay tackles, draft guards, if you can. I have no issues addressing problems through FA. It was not addressing C at all that's been the issue and still has been. Ryan Kalil was the anchor of our offensive line. We had years of solid center play and it showed. Now we're still piecemealing the center position with an expensive oline and it's still a shitshow. Why? Because the player responsible for what happens on the line presnap has little to no experience doing it. We did acquire a FA center this year finally. We'll see how much that impacts the line. Spending on a center, whether it be through draft or FA is not bad. It's not a position that can have anyone just thrown in with no drop off in performance. A great center lifts the play of the guards on each side. I don't like how we've built the line because we've ignored the hinge pin that everyone counts on every play. And the reality of the situation is, it didn't solve the actual problems with Bryce because those have nothing to do with the oline.

Haha!!! That's true. Also carry Tomahawks, ballistic missiles, fighter jets, VSTOL aircraft, etc., but none of them clog up the crappers.

Even Luke wasn't the best at beating blocks from interior olinemen. His super power was getting to the point before the block got to him.

I agree with protecting the QB. But you have quite a few that won't let the Hunt and Lewis signings go. It was coming off a ridiculously bad performance by offensive guards in 2023. Morgan did the same in for the interior DL in 2025 when they gave up the most rushing yards ever. And again this season with pass rush when they had the worst pressure rate in the NFL.

I feel like this season is already a success no matter how it ends. This team can build of its accomplishments

Hes a solid blocker, I wouldnt say elite but hes definitely not one of those guys who are basically a big slot. He can block.

Normally, I wish a guy who goes on to somewhere else luck. And I like Rosenboom. He did very well for us and was a great team guy. I wish him great off field success. On the field... if he could struggle versus us for those two games a season, I'd be happy with that.

It's his brain that really helps the most. High football IQ and can decipher plays well. Get smart players, it helps every single time. Getting bullied a couple of times will happen as he gets into the league, but he'll figure it out. And there's a weight room and professional nutritionists to help add some muscle mass. And guys like Luke and TD are around to show him how to make bullies cry.

Throw all the cheap FA deals and later round picks you want at WR and TE. Most are probably fine with that. And, I am okay spending to protect the QB too. And would 100% rather see the spending focused there than on fancy pass catchers.

He was decent!! Our Offense will have to watch out for him when we play them

There’s a lot of good linebacker prospects this year. I think Rodriguez will be a good player but they can also be patient and still get a good one. I like the idea of trading down in the first but I think they are set on Sadiq and if he’s not there then they might trade down

Them signing Robinson, did not like. Dude can play and is a run stuffer. Rozeboom? Cool name, backup player.

The only team over .500 that the Hawks have beaten in their last 13 wins is the Orlando Magic. They've got some really tough ones coming up and I imagine we'll be able to gain some ground on them too. We have the tiebreaker over them. If we take care of business and win all the games we should win and then roughly split the others I think we're in good shape to get a top 8 seed. Orlando and Philly are in freefalls that have no end in sight. Heat have been as well but they have the tiebreaker over us and as much as I hope they don't, I fully expect them to bounce back. 44-45 wins is realistic for us. 42-43 might get us the 8 seed but more likely 9-10 seed and a tough road to the playoffs. IMO a winning season period is a huge huge huge success for this team. Hopefully we can do even better and get in the playoffs.
