Rickey posted the Trey to Dallas signing and that’s where they got it from

There are things to be optimistic about certainly but there are also things that we should absolutely be as realistic as possible about to avoid setting ourselves up for heartbreak. As far as right now I say talk to me after the draft. We can chase all the free agents we want. Drafting well is the only way back to relevance and legitimate competition for the playoffs and beyond.

Yep. What Mr C said. We have alignment. I guess at 8 taking true BPA made a lot of sense. It is unlikely that we’ll be looking at the same gap between need and BPA at 19. Be a little easier to pass and trade down and match our value to our needs. IMO. I care very little about having a shiny 1st round TE, give me a tackle or help the defense.

I’ll gladly admit if/when I’m wrong, but I don’t mind calling out the constant negativity. A select few in here are so consistently pessimistic, you’d think they were trolling fans of rival teams. We’re young in key areas and won our division. Made the playoffs in Dave & Dans second year getting after it. It seems we’re building it the right way. Just tired of seeing all of the complaining. Find something to get excited about with the franchise. There are plenty of options to choose from at the moment.

I’m not sure he was a fit anyway.

IMO there are only a handful of top tier players in this draft. But the 2nd tier is really really strong. So a trade back to me is preferred as again IMO you are getting the same quality player at 19 as you would in the top half of the 2nd. We can hopefully get a another pick and maybe someone is stupid enough give us a 27 first.

That’s the thing. You Have to fix the line. He has enough around him or will by the time the draft is over to work with. Plenty. If he is the guy, he can work with the players he’s been given. What we can’t do, absolutely cannot do, is build in an excuse for bad play or lack of growth. We’ll fuging pay for that, probably for more long years.

That’s crazy. That is probably most undeserving inclusion I can remember. I am kind of rooting for him, but I would’t dream of advocating for him and using ‘he made the pro bowl!’ that’s for sure. I am not really advocating, just for whatever reason am pulling for him - I guess because he was treated so badly. Despite his silver spoon background.

I mean Hendrickson hasn’t gone anywhere officially yet so you can’t say either way. I’m pretty sure Dallas is the front runner and we’ll see.

LAST MINUTE: Panthers teasing something later today

I don’t see his situation as all that bad? At all to be honest. A lot of it is they have shoved him down our throats for three years and they minimize or totally ignore the negatives. We’ve been getting Bryce sunshine pumped up our butts for a long time now - a lot of people are just tired of it. At the same time, this is a puff piece not a hard hitting critique. It isn’t like we should expect much different. But if you wonder why people are cynical about it, I don’t understand that. Seems to be a clear cause for it. When they see 1-3 finish when it was must win, but now he is our hero? That is the ultimate blue skying. Were there a few positives? Was progress made? Absolutely. But people put way too much sugar on it. -
They dont have a choice. Tua's contract/dead cap (cough cough) leaves them no other choice

I'd be careful with that Sleeper site with accuracy. Hendrickson didn't go there, but they did get the Gary trade, but slightly off. Gary goes for a 4th in '27. I would've traded a 4th in 2027 for Gary. Wish we would've been in on this. Meh.

Locked on Panthers: Free Agency Primer with Mike Kaye

It looks like his biggest knock was his size / strength. A year with a nfl caliber strength coach ad nutritionist may have done him a world of good. FWIW (not much), he came out of Michigan State listed at 307 lbs and we have him at 314. I'll be watching him like a hawk this preseason. Overview A three-year starter with good feet and technique, Samac could be in consideration for a move-blocking rushing attack. He is strong at the point of attack but will have limitations against NFL power. He operates with good hand placement and nimble feet and is a demon once he’s on the move as a pulling center leading the way. He’s fluid and agile in the run game, but those traits fail to do as much for him in protection. Samac punches with inside hands but can struggle to widen his protection base in order to protect his edges. He has eventual starting talent as a run blocker but needs to add more mass and improve in pass protection to get there. Strengths Enters into initial contact with body control and accuracy. Plays with above-average hand placement and strong core. Gets chin tucked and hips rolled into seal and base blocks. Athleticism to race around the corner as a pulling lead blocker. Smooth and fluid working from block to block. Sees twists and snaps them off with sharp push. Weaknesses Not very explosive at the point of first impact. Fails to generate movement on secure block before climbing up. Will have issues handling the size of an NFL odd-front nose. Pulled off balance when defenders feel him leaning in protection. Gets beaten into the pocket by length and edge power. -
Freeling is going to be good. Would be awesome if there at 19. Solid selections in R1-2.

Dolphins are burning it down.

Yeah I am not beating the drum for Lloyd. I was beating it for a quality vet, and a top rated draftee, with a higher ceiling. 1st we aren’t getting another Luke. Likely not even another Morgan. But it won’t take that to drastically improve our ILB play. It has been worse than bad. I would invest more in the draft pick.
