  1. Past hour
  2. we are not talking about the 5th we are talking about bryce being one of if not the worst starter in the nfl for the past 3 years. Dont move the goalposts my man
  3. The issue is the position Bryce plays. Finding a good/great quarterback isn't easy. Plus, it sometimes takes years for these guys to actually become good/great. What you have to look for is progress instead of regression. Bryce has shown that. Can he put it all together? We don't know yet. But that's why you place a smaller bet with the 5th year option, and wait to see. You could be wrong and lose your 30 mil bet, but you didn't hitch your wagon long-term and lose much more.
  4. Absolutely not. That’s too much for replacement level player. Bryce may be that. Or he may turn into something more. If you can’t see the flashes, you’re willfully blind. There’s more bad than good right now, but there’s less bad than there was earlier in his career. He’s only 24 and he’s showing signs of improvement. He may never become consistent enough to justify a long term contract, but he’s shown enough to roll the dice on what effectively will turn into a 2 year, $30MM contract for the next two years to see if he can earn something longer. Sure, in his one season starting, Howell managed to throw for 3,946 yards and toss 21 TDs, but it took throwing the ball an astounding 612 times. He also threw 21 INTs (for a particularly egregious 3.4 INT%). For all the talk of him being a deep ball thrower, he still only averaged 6.4 YPA, with an average air yards of 5.6 yards per attempt. And for all the excuses of Washington’s line giving him no protection (65 sacks taken that year), he was only pressured on 22.7% of his dropbacks, which is a few percentage points lower than what Bryce has had to deal with each year (24.2, 26.7, and 24.0%). These are all numbers that are at best roughly equivalent to Bryce’s production the past two years. It’s wild to me people can claim so confidently that he’s a better QB.
  5. I don't know what Howell is. If I do, it's only by assumption based upon his lack of opportunities.
  6. Enjoy being wrong again. The majority of the league's media and NFL decision makers (including our own front office and coaching staff) know it's a no brainer to sign a 5th year option and see what happens. But hey, keep up the good work with your hot takes.
  7. 5 of the top 10 defenses in the league didn't even make it to the playoffs. To suggest that the roster isn't built to compete right now because the defense isn't ranked highly is not backed up by reality when the majority of the top defenses didn't even make the playoffs. I'm not arguing that the defense doesn't need to be upgraded. So does the offense. Every team in the league could say they need upgrades at various positions. I'm arguing that upgrading the defense won't matter, at all, so long as Bryce Young is the QB.
  8. As well as we scouted and drafted this season if we can scout similarly this season we can find our own Tyler Shough type in the 3-5 round. Someone who csb takeover after the 5th year option runs out
  9. I see 2 2nd year players, 1 rookie, disagree about Geno, strongly, Murray is way better than Young and they still want to move on, but hey I will give you Tua. So yeah my point stands
  10. so u or anyone can just ook at Bryce Young's #'s & tell that he is in fact one of the worst statistically speaking starting Qbs in the NFL .so Dan Morgan would have to obvisouly think at this point that Bryce Young still has not reached his ceiling ? ladies & gents there is an alarming pattern here of just one project after the next whether it be a very raw XL, DJ Johnson ,or Trevin Wallace , a RB with a torn ACL or one of the smallest players in the entire NFL with supposedly a super processor the list goes on & on where the Panthers have invested ALOT & got little in return from developing these players that they thought had high upsides when you start paying players based solely off of potential rather than production then that's just bad buisness..just saying
  11. I'm sticking with Bryce is Alex smith. Good enough to get a team to the playoffs while you build the rest of the team then you drop your stud in there. We have to get lucky with a QB in the 3-5 round the next two years. You cannot pay a QB like Bryce 50 million a year. Ask Miami and Arizona
  12. Penix/Cousins Fields McCarthy Ward Tua Murray/Brissett Geno Smith His good games have been elite level. His bad games have been barely worth of a roster. That's inconsistency. Give him another year to see if he can level that out. If not, move on.
  13. Pretty reasonable outlook on it, let’s hope that’s correct.
  14. If I'm their agents I look at the clusterfug in Charlotte and steer my client well away. We've never had a legitimate QB competition in the time Young has been here and they've just promised to give him $27m after 3 years of inept play. I don't say to my client "well when he falters again you'll get a chance" because I don't honestly believe that to be the case.
  15. name the 3 year starters that he has been better than
  16. Why don't you apply those same standards to Young?
  17. https://overthecap.com/collective-bargaining-agreement/article/7/section/7 Is it at the start of the season or league year(March)? I am not 100% clear reading the language.
  18. Why do some of you always post with hyperbole. Most of them suck at this point. And Willis is probably getting a similar contract to the 5th year option for BY.
  19. But if you're looking at pure backup role offers like those guys will be, it's a decent opportunity. I mean, Bryce has faltered before to the point that he got benched. He started out awfully again this season and if we'd had a decent backup I'm not sure he would've gotten back on the field.
  20. Dan pretty much said in a politically correct GM way what most everyone is saying, let’s not jump into long term contract talk yet, let’s pick up his option and keep the relationship good and see how it goes next year.
  21. Laughable. Literally not one of those quarterbacks is better than Young. Howell and Minshew just aren't starter quality. Lance and Willis are athletic busts that can maybe provide a flash in a pan for a game or two, but haven't shown any indication they can be the guy for a full season.
  22. I get your point, I just don't agree with it on its face. This wasn't the 2024 season. The defense was not on the field an inordinate amount of time. The fact is, is that though we drafted two pass rushers, we actually regressed a little bit in regards to total sacks and dropped significantly in pass rush win rate. We were 24th in 2025 (down from 10th in '24). We were ranked 28th in sacks in 2025 and 27th in '24. I bet you Jeff Ulbrich would've gotten more out of our guys in the pass rushing department, as I would bet that many DCs would have. Our pass rushing efficiency, or lack thereof, didn't really have anything to do with the offense in my mind--not in 2025. And let's not even talk about third-down efficiency. It was just as bad if not a little worse. But, this offseason, I would take away even more excuses by investing even more in the defense. If we can't get a pass rush going, then it's squarely an Evero issue. He has one of the best DTs in the league, as well as a pretty good pair of CBs, and one above average safety. Assuming that we upgrade safety and get a legit MLB, we should see a substantial improvement.
  23. I don't think any of those guys are accepting a contract to backup Bryce Young. It's insulting.
