I tend to disagree with you a good bit but not here. I think Bryce was fortunate to miss this game because it could have been really bad for him. That is a very good team we played that didn’t even play their best and dictated to us. Canales wasn’t helping poo with his running back foolishness. One thing I’ll say is maybe he would have been more conservative with Bryce and run the ball more but with Chuba getting 2.8 I don’t think it worked like it did with Dallas. I said in the predictions thread that I didn’t think it mattered who played QB we would likely lose the game and I still think that.

After we release Dalton tomorrow, who do we sign?

Nah he sees the year out -
Im not sure you haven't seen everything already. What you've seen is all there is to see. There's not magical evolution that's going to take place where he turns into the next Drew Brees or Patrick Mahomes. You've seen his best and worst. The worst far outweighs the best.

It's obvious Dalton is done/cooked/uninterested. After today, he has to be released. Who can we sign or trade for as a competent backup for the rest of the year?
-
Dalton started it and sealed it, but you can’t let the defense off the hook when they allow those kinds of rushing yards.
-
Can’t disagree with anything you said here. Dalton cost us the game by himself basically but the whole damn team took the day off (and that’s on the coach)
-
Nah, I am not even talking about this year. This is the home stretch for him to show what he has and I totally accept that.
-
I don't think anyone is settling on him except maybe the team. Im not sure how long that will last. As of today and for the remainder of this season he's the best we have.
-
They were able to against a bad team in a Miami. We were outclassed today across the board. All,phases, including the coaching. Sometimes you just aren’t good enough. and honestly, where we are now I don’t think we should expect them to be good enough to do that against a playoff caliber team. edit: we were due for a back down to reality game. We just imploded or some people did. We have some good players but overall too many weaknesses.
-
100% agree with you there.
-
I accept that that is what he is, I don’t accept settling. I say keep looking. Keep taking shots. Absent any clear improvement from his current inconsistent performance. He has had a couple of good ones but they are not followed with more good ones.
-
I will say.... I think the one thing most of the huddle has agreed on is that DC is a terrible coach. I haven't really seen anyone defend him and rightfully so
-
I would argue the percentage is higher than 60%.

Damning indictment of Bryce Young
Stuart Smith replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think you just described about 60% of the quarterbacks starting in the NFL today. We may never see another quarterback in Charlotte like Cam that could put the team on his back and will them to win. -
I’ll get killed for this but he always sounded gay to me. Not necessarily not gay, but feminine. I tried to say it in a more subtle way and still got killed for it last year. fug it I don’t care it’s an honest opinion. I didn’t let that disqualify him and have been very patient and non critical. I just wondered how the big tough guys in the locker room would respond to that. But whatever, I think he thinks too much from the emotional side. The rah rah positive deal, what must it sound like if he gets mad? Where is the tough hard ass side? The no empathy, get the job done or get gone. I wonder about that. It mean I doubt there is a lot of fear of failure going on. So anyway to other comments about he sucks and all that, I said I needed a better reason to change my stance on him, which has been give him time. Continuity is super important. This thing with the running backs is eroding the goodwill.

He has a 54 mil buyout so he will be fine but LSU needs o move on.

Sure if you just blindly look at stats, you can pinpoint a couple areas that look similar. But come on man that's lazy analysis. Instead of throwing lower percentage throws, Dalton held onto the ball unconscionably long, leading to several of those sacks including that unthinkable one at the end of the first half, inflating his completion percentage. Bryce for all his flaws, does a pretty good job of escaping pressure and scrambling for 5 yards or throwing it away. Dalton's pocket presence was just so incredibly bad today, which led to both of his lost fumbles. If Bryce would just hold onto the ball and get sacked every 3rd play instead of throw it away or try a contested pass, his completion percentage would be 15 points higher than Dalton's today. And Bryce only had more yardage in 3 of 7 games? You mean when we played run heavy schemes in our wins, instead of Dalton being forced to throw all game cause we're getting blown out? Look anyone is more than justified in arguing Bryce Young doesn't have the tools to lead this team to a super bowl. But he has been head and shoulders better this year than what Dalton showed today. That was just an abysmal perfomance.
-
100% correct. we also have a team that is completely incapable of responding to adversity. The first sign of trouble and the team just unravels. I think that says a lot about coaching more than anything. It can also be explained with the amount of youth we have playing key roles on offense and defense.
-
He's not elevating anyone around him and will never be that kind of qb. He is what he is. He will always need a good team around him to play his best. His best is not a game changer but game manager. If you accept that then you will understand what the outlook is going forward.
-
I can’t imagine he plays another season, he probably retires after this year. He had the career benefit of playing with AJ Green otherwise Dalton probably doesn’t even last this long in the NFL.
-
I thought the same thing. You don’t come out and post two straight 200 yard games and then have your touches cut in half and take it laying down. Making the fans pissed off and the team vibes go downhill in the process. Canales has it be careful with this kind of sh*t because he doesn’t have the same kind of credit with the players Ron Rivera did sticking to his veterans, Canales has done nothing but lose in Carolina so far.
-
As is the case with nearly all remakes. But there was so much room for improvement I had hopes.

Now Rod officially gives the worst PP...
