Renfrow is my college GOAT. But a long NFL career was never in the cards for him IMO. I'll be shocked if he still has it. Plus, I think those Renfrow routes he stormed the NFL w/ had a film shelf life. To me, if we want a lotto pick to hit......it's gotta be Jimmy Horn we want to hit. but I maintain, we need AT out of hogging up those slot reps. I still say it drastically keeps the ceiling of O production down. I support a heavy mix of whoever into the slot. Coker, Horn, we need YAC.

dogshit take. BTW next year is year four for Bryce. This year is put up or shut up. The floor is 8-9 the ceiling is 12-5 with this schedule and the influx of this division. We open with Jags. The schedule is a cake walk. It comes down to the defense and if we can stay healthy. If Bryce doesn't continue what he had last year, its time to burn it down. It might take a few games, but this schedule is dogshit. Stop playing for picks, sounds like playing not to lose. You either go out and win or you mail it in.

Rumors are that the Hornets are looking at VJ, Bailey, Johnson and Maluach with the fourth pick. Last ones a bit of a surprise for me.

The Evolution of the Panthers WR Room from 2023 to 2025

Seeing a tight end group without Ian Thomas warms my heart. -
Jacksonville is in the same boat with a lot of young players and Arizona is weirdly a team we own for some reason. Sucks opening with 2 on the road, but they are definitely 2 winnable games

I don't hate the TMac pick. I just thought we'd need to draft another speed guy later if he was the pick. And they did just that. And double dipping at Edge was huge! Before the draft, I thought Nic was better than Shemar, who went 17th overall. But I also thought Kenneth Grant was better than Mason Graham. Only time will tell.
-
Agree in theory. But this offense is VERY young with new players. Same with the defense. May take a couple of games for the rookies to figure out the speed of the game and both rookies and FAs to figure out what they're supposed to be doing.
-
Well... we're still not sure about the #1 WR either. That's a lot of expectations for a rookie that hasn't taken an NFL snap yet. And a couple of 2nd year guys that are expected to show major improvement. Last year's group showed potential. But if we're being honest, they were probably the worst in the NFL. Edit: But I love your optimism!!!

Well, the Niners just doomed themselves to mediocrity
45catfan replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
TD came in as a 'tweener from college, but struggled until we settled him in strictly as a LB and stripped him of any safety responsibilities. I liked the TD pick and was hopeful for him as a safety, but he looked lost that rookie year trying to balance both roles. That's why I am astonished that Jeremy Chinn was so adverse to playing LB besides that one season...where he flourished. All he had to do was take a page out of TD's book. -

I was more referencing the Panthers putting him out wide on the outside at WR. He wasn't a tweener in the context we were moving him around. That should of never been on the table. But yeah, gadget 3rd down RB or slot WR? Tweener in that regard. Sure. -

Its possible. Given the higher value and longer expected career length of WR vs. RB I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't pushing to play WR himself, but honestly Samuel would've probably been best used as a Deebo type of player - essentially a RB/WR hybrid. And yeah, drafting him right after CMC was head scratching and I said so at the time. Like, why did we just draft a poor man's version of CMC right after drafting CMC. I said the same when we drafted Funchess. Why did we just draft a poor man's version of KB when we just spent a 1st rounder on KB last year? -

Samuel was definitely a 'tweener. I would argue he would have had a better career as a RB in the NFL, especially as the 3rd down back. He was projected to be a better RB than WR at the next level by many draft gurus. Your right though, he was a poor man's CMC and the reason we opted to make him a WR because CMC was eating up the RB reps. -

You're arguing against posts that haven't even been made. Roughly half the thread is people arguing it's a good move and the other half is people saying he's a mid-level starter who isn't worth carrying this type of cap impact. I don't think I've seen a single person saying he's a below average QB at best and that's why you're backpedaling. First it was "terrible", now it's "below average at best". Mischaracterizing others' arguments doesn't make yours stronger. -

about half the people posting on this thread have said Purdy is a journeyman below average qb at best. It is interesting how many panther fans are 49er fans also guessing b/c of Cmac. But really right now all this conversation is pointless but at the end of the year someone needs to remember to bring this thread back up so we can see how Purdy did and how deebo did on a new team and we can continue the discussion. -

I don't think Samuel is even a tweener. He is a slot WR that you can scheme some quirky stuff for around the line of scrimmage or backfield. Never made sense to draft him in a draft where you draft CMC though. CMC was going to eat everything you would essentially draft Samuel to do. And oddly enough, his best year......CMC was hurt the whole year. -

Except for maybe TD. But that guy was a freak of nature. You probably could have had him put his hand in the dirt at Edge, and he would have gotten you double digit sacks.
