We don’t need him. We have a good group of TEs that just need more experience. The floor of that group is the best it’s ever been. We aren’t losing games because we don’t have a TE.

2027: Sharing my thoughts on the cap without a lotta research
LinvilleGorge replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trai Turner wasn't an OT. I shouldn't have to explain that. J. Stew went to the Pro Bowl with under 1000 rushing yards (8th in the league) on barely over 4ypc (28th) and only 6 TDs (tied for 22nd)... because we went 15-1. You're leaning awfully hard into this "rookie year" thing so let's look more at the offense in that ROY season... Cam was 10th in the league in passing yardage, 12th in TDs, 2nd in rushing TDs with the Panthers being 7th in yards gained and 6th in points scored. Anymore trash tier arguments you'd like to offer up? Because you're flailing bad. -

I can assure you I am not trying to make anyone like him as I know that's a fools game at this point. I just like the "friendly" banter to be honest lol. -
BetMGM has 6.5 wins as the betting line for the upcoming season. Our rivals are at 8.5 (Bucs) and 7.5 (Falcons and Saints)

Trai Turner was a 5 time pro bowler - not some "trash OT" guy and Stewart went to the PB that year as well. Anyway, if you really think Newton didn't have any talent to work with after I listed the 10 pro bowlers on the team his rookie years, than I guess there's nothing left for me to say. -
damn I wish somebody would sign him. This has been going on for weeks. I think if the team wanted to sign him we probably would have heard something about interest on our part. Or any TE. It looks like they have set that room. And we have taken guys two years running, a guy like this would be blocking them. We need to see if they have it or not. And we should see if Tremble is gonna ever do anything. In general, with the TEs

Grading the Panthers' 2026 Draft Class
WhoKnows replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dude, there aren’t rose colored glasses big enough for you to call this “not a bad draft.” BC was not a good pick. He was taken with the 6th pick in round 3 and he’s been a backup OL. Tremble also wasn’t a win. Another 3rd rounder who’s easily replaced. Only reason either of them started games is because of injuries or a lack of a better starter. Chuba’s got heart but he’s had one solid year behind a solid run blocking unit. Other than that he’s underwhelmed and like we saw with Dowdle and Foreman, it’s not hard to find cheap pickups who perform as well. Horn has been a good starter but honestly that draft had so many solid starters we could have taken. With as many picks as we had, him and Chuba is absolutely a bad draft. We needed OL and BC and Brown was a terrible effort. You clearly didn’t watch the Senior Bowl if you thought Brown had a chance in the NFL. The huddle draft folks wanted Humphrey and Smith and instead we got crap and Mahomes was the winner. -

Bryce Young is the reason.

Rookie season being key to uour argument. I didn't at all mislead about the talent Cam had to work with. Kalil was a great center. Olsen was a great TE. Our WRs were probably the worst in the league. Cam still won MVP, we went 15-1, and we went to the SB. Your attempt to bring up Cam to defend Bryce is desperate and clownish. Bryce has more talent to work with and has done WAY less. -

cranky replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not exactly sure that is an honest assesment of the talent he had to work with that year. Olsen had over 1100 yards that season making the PB, Stewart had close to 1100 total yards also going to the PB. He had Kalil at C who went to the PB, Trai Turner at RG who also went to the PB, and Michael Oher at LT who played well enough that the Panthers offered him a new contract the following year. I wouldn't call that a trash OL. He also played with a defense that was stacked with talent as well. "The thing we are doing better this time around is actually surrounding our #1 overall draft pick QB with talent vs. asking him to completely carry the offense. I just hope that effort is leading us to realize that the guy isn't even good enough to get carried." Please.... Did you not read the list of names Newton had to work with his rookie season. I guess you missed it so I will post it again for you... Steve Smith (PB), Greg Olsen (PB), Brandon LaFell, Ted Ginn JR, Deangelo Williams (PB), Jonathan Stewart (PB), Jordan Grossn (PB), Ryan Kalil (PB) on the offensive side and then he had Luke Kuechly (PB), Jon Beason (PB), Thomas Davis (PB), Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short ( PB ),Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy (PB ), Mike Mitchell, Josh Norman (PB) For comparison, here is who Young had his first year. Chuba Hubbard, DJ Chark, Jonathan Mingo, Adam Thielen, Hayden Hurst, Ikem Ekwonu, Chandler Zavala, Bradley Bozeman, Nash Jensen and Taylor Morton. Not a single PB player on the list and most of them aren't even playing any longer. Additionally, his HC was fired during the season and the defense was as bad as the offense. You might not like the comparison but saying Newton had to completely carry the offense isn't exactly fair to the 4 pro bowlers on offense who played with him that year. - Today

That's why I say we have to keep looking. Even if you believe Bryce is the guy, KP and Grier are not and who knows if King is anything more than a gimmick player, we should be active in improving our 2nd QB spot. Season ending injuries happen, and you don't just want to roll over and give it up. How many starters have we seen come from the ranks of backup? Having 2 potential starting QBs is one of the best problems we could have.

Yes, the QB who went 15-1 and made it to the SB with Ted Ginn Jr. as his #1 WR while also often leading the team in rushing and rushing TDs with a revolving door of largely trash tier OTs is super comparable to Bryce Young. Clownish argument. The thing we are doing better this time around is actually surrounding our #1 overall draft pick QB with talent vs. asking him to completely carry the offense. I just hope that effort is leading us to realize that the guy isn't even good enough to get carried. -

It absolutely is. The guy said Young is so bad he couldn't even win with a pro bowl roster. So if that is his criteria for talent, then by HIS measure, Newton is a bust as well. Now we all know Newton wasn't so by that measure, neither would Young be in that same situation. -

I've never had a problem with his footwork or mechanics so am not looking for him to fix them. I do agree though that this is the year. Boom or bust!
