they drafted Tmac this year. Bryce's natural play style is going to trend to a Ladd type not the vertical game. So why wouldn't your build your team to your QBs strength fixate on being strong there. We drafted Tmac this year. So you got Ladd in the slot. Now you got that AT money to spent on the outside across from AT. That's my whole, random parts thing. I feel Bryce Young fits 1 thing, Dave's always fit a different game (and that basically plays out). So my naturally stance despite not being a huge Bryce guy is either go on in him (which they never did).....or go all in on Dave (which isn't Bryce's style). I'm fine either way. It's the in-between I don't like.

I'm all for having developed Ladd under AT last season, but that still doesn't address WR1/WR2. Even if we add Diontae to that mix still, who is the other WR? I'd rather give AT the $9M and draft XL than pay DJ Chark (or Diontae Johnson) and draft Ladd, especially when drafting Ladd doesn't give the team a deep threat to take the top off of a defense like XL does.

Guys that will either make or break our Young Quarterback!!

I don't mind no longer dumping massive resources into the position but striking a balance between the two approaches would be nice. -

It has been really weird to watch this team go from Sam Mills to Thomas Davis to Dan Morgan to Jon Beason to Luke Kuchly to.... being content with Josey Jewell. Linebackers used to be our DNA and now are a complete afterthought and staying that way. -

I mean, it wasn't a "collapse" as much as it just made an already bad defense historically bad. Add any one player in NFL history to that D and it would've still sucked. -

One player going down on either side of the ball (minus quarterback) should never reasonably result in complete collapse. -

I still contend if you give any org our OL last year......more offense should of resulted. The D being THAT bad makes sense given what the DL was post Brown going down. -

Yeah and the defense was the worst in history, statistically. And then we invested heavily into defense this off-season. We had holes everywhere last year and weren't a good team. -

What's the issue? That's always going to be the case. The NFL teams set the value of these picks through the trade market. Fetching a 2nd round pick in the trade market is a pretty big deal and that's because NFL teams really value draft picks.
-
Yeah, but...they rank us 30th of 32 teams, so the WR-is-a-strength sentiment is built on hollowed ground (yes, "hollowed," not hallowed). When you're perceived as ranking 30th, there's an argument that all strengths are really perceived as weaknesses. I mean, basically I wouldn't get carried away with any strength arguments based upon that ranking. The truth will begin to reveal itself come early September.
-
I have an issue with this. After the draft, the team has already expended it's bargaining chip on the player. Once the player is drafted, they have all of the leverage on any contract negotiations and the team has already lost that pick, giving the player even more power in the situation.

They definitely shied away in part of Deion and the hype machine. Hell, even the Browns' football people didn't want him. Just look at the faces in that room as the pick was being announced. LOL But honestly, Shedeur checks all the boxes of guys who put up big numbers in college but don't project well to the NFL. QB friendly pass happy offense. Bad defense that forces the team to chase points. Weak schedule. Marginal measurables and talent. I mean, let's be honest, what plus physical traits does he have at the NFL level? Size? Below average. Arm? Below average. Mobility? Average. Then you add in the Travis Hunter factor of an all world athlete being your primary target. Finally, you have to look at his playing style. He basically plays like Johnny Manziel. There's pretty much only two guys who have made that style of play work for them in the modern era and that's Favre and Mahomes and they both have absolute cannon arms. Caleb Williams has that cannon and he's still struggling to make it work. Yeah, the Deion circus hurt him but when you objectively look at his NFL projection then combine it with the reports that he handled the whole pre-draft process extremely poorly it's not a shock he fell to the 5th. If his name was Shedeur Johnson instead of Shedeur Sanders there wouldn't have been this massive hype train around him. The media hype misled a lot of people regarding his NFL projection. He basically projects as a backup and the last thing you want out of a backup is a circus. Their fault or not, that's why guys like The Golden Calf of Bristol, Kaepernick, and Cam never carved out careers as backups.

*disclaimer, no need to tell us what happened in the end, just quit watching after he gets the Mountain on the ground. I mean, he technically beat him. Renfrow isn't cocky enough to then get leg swept and then have all that other stuff happen to him.

Well, it seems a little confusing, but I guess not: I guess they're thinking that we're going to the way that our receivers go. Barnwell just ranked us 31 at the (so-called) offensive skill positions. ESPN just doesn't think that much of the Panthers. I wonder if it was the O-line that bumped us up one spot, because they obviously don't think that much of our safety position, or our pass-rush. In any event, there should be ample enough bulletin board material here for the team.

He took the Browns to the playoffs, and won. The issues with Baker were overstated in Cleveland, as they were at OU. If Shadeur Sanders was not the son of Deion, he would've been taken by at least the second round. His stats given the absurdly awful complementary run game in that offense were great. He will be great, if he gets the chance. My theory on Shadeur is that coaches shy'd away from him knowing that Deion would be lurking in the background should they fail. He hasn't turned down the potential of a NFL gig.

He really seemed destined for the Pats or Steelers with his six fingers and all.

Really bad defenses actually present opportunity for offenses to overperform statistically. which IMO is a red flag/concern about last year. We had a historically bad defense.....and really didn't generate much O -

I hope everyone is peeing clear. Maybe not Spartanburg hot, but it’s hot out there -
Now that I’ve watched a few SL games…Kon looks like a nice piece…especially considering he will get many more open shots in a true starting lineup. He is smart with the ball to. I think Melo gets traded at some point this season. Probably Miles too. Get more draft capital and build it right.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 1h The #Panthers are set to work out a handful of players today ahead of training camp. According to a league source, former Carolina OLB Kenny Dyson and former #Seahawks TE Tyler Mabry will be among the group. Mabry was with the Seahawks during TE coach Pat McPherson's tenure, Dave Canales and Brad Idzik were all there for his first two years. UFL imports, DB Nick Whiteside and OLB Jaylon Allen, as reported by @JamesLarsenPFN , will also take part.

won't be any news, but we'll get some pics. Everybody else comes in tomorrow, but they'll hit the field this week, and we'll start getting some info. And it only gets better. Something to watch...will we add another safety? I'm really high on this draft, and can't wait to see if we can get 2 or 3 players that contribute early. here's some news....talking to another edge Aaron Wilson @AaronWilson_NFL · 1h #Panthers working out J.J.
