The thing is, there's not a part of the organization that isn't. Would you rather buy a trailer park full of mobile homes that are about to disintegrate, or just build a few new houses? Sure, you won't make money while you're building the new houses, but the long term payoff is going to be much, much better. Same exact situation. Canales was forced to keep a bunch of mobile homes instead of being allowed to build new ones . Now he might suck at building, but we can never know unless he is given the opportunity. I'm not saying he's done a good job or a bad job. He hasn't been allowed to do a job period.

With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
LinvilleGorge replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Keep all options open is all I'm saying. Seems like "next year's class" is always the one. I mean, the narrative going into this year was that this was going to be a great QB draft and now it's just not looking like that's panning out on the college field but we'll see. In a few years looking back maybe it is. -
How do you or I know who he can or can't call up? That question doesn't even make sense. Of course he has relationships. What matters is building YOUR team. I don't know if you've ever been a part of a team, sports or otherwise, but I promise you goals are not achievable when you assemble a team of people that don't know how to make each other better. Bryce Young cannot be made better. He doesn't have the basic tools. Of course he was brought in to try to make Young better. Any coach we hire would be brought in for the same purpose. Again, irrelevant to the point, which is that coach has not been permitted to build his own operation. If you or I were hired to some sh*tshow and forced to keep the people that made it a sh*tshow, I would expect it to run exactly the same under me, regardless of the scenario.

Yeah and I think for both the loudest saber rattlers were casual or non-NFL fans. Especially Kaepernick. The people who hated him the most didn't watch a lick of NFL football. At least hate him for the valid reasons of him being a mediocre QB on his absolute best day. Panthers fans have a whole different reason to have hated him, when he mocked Cam.

With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
mrcompletely11 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would research the poo out of the first rounders and pick one there and fuging sit his ass for half the year at least. Sign a shitty vet to roll out there and just let the pick sit. There is no harm in that. Its going to suck to use another pick on a qb instead of defense but you cannot win in the nfl without a consistent qb and you need to get that clock started -
We can prob get him for a 6th or 7th
-
I agree we need multiple QBs, I just don't think we need to draft multiple QBs. I'd rather try and sign a few vets and a late round QB. Chances are high that whoever starts the 1st game next season will be a stop gap QB for us. I'm looking at making the QB splash the following year with either a big FA QB or drafting our hopeful future starter.

Cam Newton, Jordan Gross, Ryan Kalil, Jon Beason/Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis, most of the entire defensive line, Steve Smith, Greg Olsen, Jeremy Shockey, Jonathan Stewart, and Deangelo Williams are all obscenely more talented than their counterparts on this roster.... oh, and Rivera didn't have a sociopath owner of the team. "Heights" meaning one more win??? With somewhat competent QB play OR a defense that wasn't giving up 200 yards a game on the ground this team easily wins 4 more games last season. Bryce Young is not it. I assure you that it is not Canales' decision to keep or release Bryce Young. Only David Tepper will be making that call. If you think otherwise you've been wearing blinders since that moron bought the team. If you recall, Tepper also made the decision to keep Evero. The same applies. Until Canales can actually build the program he wants (not the program that Tepper wants) he has absolutely no chance at success.

I was already out on him after last year. You can't be a #1 WR without good hands, and if you are entering the NFL with bad hands, ain't much is gonna change that. But this speaks VOLUMES about where he is mentally. We would be smart to go ahead and move on in the offseason. -
The Golden Calf of Bristol and Kaepernick are basically 1A and 1B IMO. Both camps were nuts for reasons that had nothing to do with football. You can't let loving what someone stands for off the field completely cloud your view of the play on the field. I honestly think both would've had long careers if A) the guy wanted it and was willing to play the role they should've been playing and B) they didn't bring a ton of media distraction to the team. Both guys wanted to be starting QBs or nothing. Which, fine. That's their call. It's their career or non-career. The Broncos offered Kaepernick a prove it deal. He declined. Payton wanted The Golden Calf of Bristol for the role that Taysom Hill would ultimately fill. He declined. Those are the realities the camps of supporters refuse to acknowledge.

The Golden Calf of Bristol's. Those guys were completely nuts

With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
LinvilleGorge replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
A lot of folks dunked on the skins at the time for it (pretty sure I did) but ultimately that approach proved correct with how it panned out. RG3 was looking really good then got derailed by injury and then damned if Cousins didn't prove to be a great mid-round pick. Hats off. Well played. -

We need multiple QBs. I wouldn't be opposed to taking the Redskins approach where they drafted RG3 high and then followed that up taking Cousins in the 4th. When you don't have a QB you can't leave any stone unturned. Obviously don't force it like Gettleman spam drafting CBs but if the opportunity presents itself just do it. -
Rico to a RB needy team like the Cardinals could work XL to anyone willing to take a chance Not much else IMO
-
Later round QB I would consider is Sam Leavitt. Good size, good arm and delivers in crunch time.

Yep, pretty much. That's basically what it boils down to. There's always going to be a crap shoot element to it. -

if we move from bryce you have to choose one regardless, maybe not in the first but you have to get some new blood in here asap, this vet option that people are throwing around is destined to be a poo show here -
Just have NFL level skills, only spend 1 pick on them and then pray.

This. I don't love any of these prospects but prospects I haven't loved have turned out great before. -
All I can hope for is a better QB draft than last year.

How was it disrespectful and how was he caught off guard? He's a struggling young player who has missed a couple of weeks due to injury or "injury". Other than "how is the hamstring feeling?" what else are they supposed to ask him? If he didn't expect to be asked that sort of question then that's a failure of our PR team and probably his agent as well. They absolutely should've given him a heads up that it's almost certainly coming. -
Nice! If I had the extra cash I'd do it myself. lol

I love that guy as a college QB. I honestly don't think he's an NFL QB but with a late round pick? I mean, we've definitely made dumber picks. -
Europe (or international) will come eventually. Trying to figure out if it'd best be four teams (two NFC, two AFC) or eight teams (NFC Intl, AFC Intl) and how it'd play out in terms of schedule and playoffs They've already scheduled Australia and Brazil, and looking for Japan. So to isolate to just "Europe" may be premature... unless they've determined that's a logical expansion space given demand. I'd say that it would likely happen with an extension to an 18 week regular season, giving all teams two bye weeks to recover from overseas travel as all teams will be required to play internationally at least one game every year. More likely two. I imagine the NFL schedule maker team (great video of their process posted on the YouTube) have already run through all sorts of example scenarios to see what is/isn't possible in the future
