I read this as the Panthers found a loophole. Panthers guarantee 150,000-300,000 to 12 UFDAs. Simple terms- that's their new PS, imo. PS members make between 225,000-380,000 yearly. If they cut them and another team claims them, they take on the contract too, but that's as 53 rostered player. I love aggression used. The player pool is still in a odd state with NIL and coofus. There's lots of 23 and 24 year old players now. I think the only way this hurts the Panthers if the player is cut and goes unclaimed. Then the player signs with a different teams PS, but I believe there maybe an offset in salary. Maybe @Toomers can fill in with some input.

he is by far the least physically gifted....but yeah, the only reason a team is willing to give him the option is because his route running is top tier. It's the best on the team. Now, that only gets you so far. Where Renfrow gets into a problem is a defender doesn't have to fully respect it all like they would with a WR that was more gifted by the physical attribute gods. But that's also how Renfrow has caught folks his entire football career.

2021 Renfrows ability to cut/change direction on the run was godlike.

I found what I was talking about, have you seen/played this gem- It reminded me of that xfiles game, but this one is uhhh different.... keep pounding!!

Tommy Tremble will not be ready for training camp

I guess this means more 3 WR sets. I echo the ???? about resigning a meh TE that needs back surgery....... He is only 24, but .... Maybe they will keep 7 WRs now.... -

Glad to see them playing it cautious. I wonder if this was due to the hit he took against the Bears that knocked him out. He was out for two games in the concussion protocol, came back for the Broncos but was listed questionable due to back, then missed two more games before returning to finish the season. He was also extended before last season started, so well before the injury ever occurred let alone when surgery needed to be discussed. -

Fine with me. Get the rookie and Sanders more snaps. Tremble is basically a bottom of the roster type of player. For some reasons the Panthers just absolutely love paying those types of guys at TE. -
Toronto won game 6 2-0 in Sunrise and Florida won game 7 6-1. Would love nothing more than to make this thing a series, but I also understand this isn't an uphill battle, but probably an upmountain battle at this point. I'll be rooting them on no matter what though, GO CANES!

I am gonna say that this makes the TE drafted make a LOT more sense now. -
AT is largely a product of good reliable hands and an abundance of targets than being a great route runner. I mean, there is basically a you tube series on the fact AT doesn't actually run great routes anymore. I stand 10 toes down (as the kids would say) on my prior statement. Renfrow has less God given physical gifts than anyone named.....but he is a better route runner than all of them. I mean, his route running is literally the only reason he is being given this chance.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see where this ultimately goes. They're trying hard to kill the golden goose. With the playoffs expanding to 12 teams and purely going with the highest seeded teams you know the SEC is going to throw a bitch for every time they don't make up at least half the teams on the field. Some of those crazy ass homers honestly think it should just be all SEC every year. No one else belongs. It's mainly the fans of lower tier SEC schools who think this way. It's just their attempt to rise the coattails of the better teams and act like they belong instead of realizing that they're just schedule cannon fodder.

Tommy Tremble CARTight End#82 Panthers coach Dave Canales said TE Tommy Tremble (back) had surgery last week and is expected to not be ready for the start of training camp. Tremble re-signed with the Panthers early this offseason after finishing his rookie deal out as mostly a blocking tight end. He’s expected to start camp on the PUP list. We’ll keep an eye on this one as August rolls around, but given the optimistic initial timeline, Tremble probably isn’t at risk of missing much time once the season starts. -

There's only two paths to that happening. First is that Theilen misses a significant chunk of the season, the other is that XL and Coker both either flop or have injuries themselves. I love the pickup of Renfrow as I think he'll be great in the locker/film room for all the young guys while giving us a natural replacement of Thielen in the WR room next year to be the wiley old vet in the room. But he has almost no path to getting snaps this year unless the guys ahead of him have injuries or just suck. Assuming he makes he squad, he's more likely to be inactive more often than he's active on game days. And he's not the best route runner on the team, that's still Thielen, who even at this point in his career is still one of the better route runners in the league.
-
I'll go ahead and say it because the average poster is too scared to say it. Hunter Renfrow is the best route runner on the team. He will catch more balls than a couple of those dudes added together. It's Short King season! Get on the wagon while there are still seats available!
