Highest rate of incompletions due to WR error
PantherChris replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ehhh XL was horrible, this metric I feel like only tells part of the story not all catches missed due to receiver error are equal, down and distance, and yardage/potential scored missed matter too. -
I thought the 10 yard in route was a good throw because he threw it with perfect anticipation. I don't get how he makes that quick decision and a perfect throw, then every other throw he makes is a late read that either is thrown out of bounds, to the other team, or is a hospital ball

For the Cards: Will Johnson was excellent week 1. He looked like that high R1 level talent people thought he was (outside his injury concerns). Still can have issues vs. man They almost entirely retooled their defense from last year, even more than the Jags but have the same coaches. Their new front-7 is a really interesting bunch, but either new or inexperienced. They should absolutely be attackable. Their running game is a good one. Which if established early could open things up for MHJ and McBride. But the receivers after Harrison are not good, so I feel our defense matches up well. That being said, if our LBs play like week 1, it could be a very long day. Could see long sustained drives by AZ, not giving us much time to respond or have dud drives.

Young feels pressure every play because he's so small. He looks terrified back there.
-
I noticed that Renfrow was wide open on a lot of plays also - I think every comeback and wheel route he ran he was wide open (at least 5 yards of separation).
-
Spot on - this dude needs to be our actual NFL tape review guru. The part where he says Bryce is always in a passive stance on pass plays is eye-opening. Bryce is never stepping forward getting ready to throw a dart to someone when in the pocket; he just loosely stands in the pocket then throws off his back foot and lets the ball hang in the air...

Highest rate of incompletions due to WR error

This isn't directed at CRA or anyone in particular, but as someone who works with large datasets every day, it's funny how you can construe data to fit any particular narrative. I mean this is just a hilarious tweet, a stat nobody has ever heard of, then some percentages with QB name. No numerator/denominator to provide context, no explanation of the formula, just another stathead loser with a mustache parroting whatever he wants. So much of this stuff is worthless, especially in a sport like Football. -
3rd straight openers of horrific football featuring Bryce. and if the games weren't dated....I bet someone unfamiliar with Bryce/us couldn't figure out which one was his rookie season just off the 3 openers.
-
I've watched everybody that says TLaw outplay Bryce also completely ignore Nijman giving up immediate pressures and mistakes by other players on the offense. I have no attachment to Bryce. My attachment is to facts, and the facts are that he dealt with more than TLaw did. As a fellow Clemson fan, I've got a much softer spot in my heart for TLaw and the NCG he won his freshman year than I do Bryce and his rough two seasons to start his career in Carolina. Have you gone back and watched the all-22 with the intent to figure out what was happening rather than sticking with your initial assessment? Give it a shot. It's much more rewarding than making up conspiracies to continue an agenda.

Highest rate of incompletions due to WR error

Don't want to make a new thread but at this point, year 3, eye-test should be all we need if the results aren't good. We should be able to tell if it's what we've been watching for a few years or not. -
Give me PJ Walker chucking bombs like the DJ Moore one if we got to lose....over the last 2+ years version of losing. the highlight/peak Sunday was bascially check out this 10 yard slant! Guy in the video brought that up as well. The good/highlights w/ Bryce is generally sort of the NFL mundane/expectation.

To be fair, I kind of like Bo but he was BAD this past weekend.
-
What I noticed was Tmac running free on deep routes a lot. Can we just get PJ or Hooker to throw go routes on every play for the rest of the season? It would be more exiting than this current mess.

We're all aware of the frustrating Week 1 for Carolina, but there's reasons to see Arizona as a possible get-right game. While this will be Zona's home opener (requiring the team to travel out west), they were barely able to hold on to a lead against the hapless Saints who got a chance to tie the game up with 2min left that ended at the ARI 18. Kyler Murray was 21/29 with 2 passing TDs but for only 163yds (5.6yd AVG) and a QBR of 50.9 (RTG 108.8). He was also sacked five times for 33yds. Meanwhile, Spencer Rattler went 27/46 and was sacked just once for 6yds. Kyler also carried the ball seven times for 38yds. James Conner struggled to get going (12 carries, 39yds) but Trey Benson had a good day thanks to a 52yd scamper (8 carries, 69yds). Arizona has weapons in MHJ and McBride, but the CBs have been playing well enough for McBride to be the true focus of the defense. MHJ had a good game though against the Saints, so hopefully Jaycee + Mike Jackson can disrupt that connection. The Cardinals also aren't a disciplined team... with an opportunity to put the Saints away they gave up a TFL and a holding penalty before having the field goal attempt blocked. Their OL suuuuucks at run blocking and got better pass blocking from their TEs in week 1 than they did from any OL except for Paris Johnson Jr. Isaiah Adams and Hjalte Froholdt especially had issues as did Jonah Williams. If the Panthers' revamped DL can't get pressure against them it might be worth giving the alarm a pull.

And Cam actually threw the ball downfield. Bryce can't even reach a 60% completion checking the ball down. I miss Cam so damn much
-
Unrelated but if anyone plays any Paradox games, namely Crusader Kings, Victoria, or even Europa... I'm always down for a grand strategy game.
-
And I'm sure only 1 team had a WR that could have easily gotten both feet in bounds for a catch but didn't because he is a moron and that team lost... Bryce sucks, but XL might suck even more

More like 20/80 balls... As in their is a 20% chance our guys catch it and 80% chance the defense picks it off -
ESPN has him at 28 and 30 on rating and QBR. I would absolutely love for him to bust with Sean Peyton in Denver.

I'm just not sure how useful it is to grade QBs based on what happens to them. Grading them on what they make happen seems to track a lot closer to reality. The entanglement problem is real in football. It makes it difficult to evaluate players individually. But QBs have enough agency to make things happen. And that's what you have to grade them on.

lol. It's almost as if some are realizing the worse a sports team is, the more negative its fan base becomes. Mind blowing stuff.
