  1. Past hour
  2. Shīt happens. Extent Yoshi and draft another tackle. We can't make panic moves over it when we already have the highest amount of salary cap in the league dedicated to the OL. We need more pieces on defense bad. Bryce Young is about to get the 5th year option. He's going to have to begin getting used to us having to make sacrifices.
  3. I don’t disagree but like with my opinion of Bryce what limitations he puts on the offense, and my strong suspicion that the playbook is thinner because of him, and the ripple effect that has overall, I don’t think Evero has been given the tools to make things work much better. Princely’s opinions notwithstanding. Now, this 3rd down poo? Very disappointing. A good bit does fall on the players. The poor tackling is a concern as well, I hate watching that stuff. Position coaches have some responsibility there too. And granted that is his cross to bear in that he put them in place and allowed the lack of attention to those details to exist. But how hard is it it to fuging wrap up? I would fine players for the shoulder tackles. I hate that. Before I send him to the trash heap, I want to give it one more draft and FA.
  4. The two people that voted for option 10 are probably Bryce Young's parents.
  5. My biggest issue with Evero is how consistent he is with playing soft in key situations. We suck on 3rd and long and in key late game scenarios because everyone knows he's going to call off the dogs and sit back in soft zone coverage. You can't be that predictable in this league. If the other team knows what you're going to do in certain situations you're cooked.
  6. I think he is doing pretty good with using Moehrig in multiple roles. I am fairly patient until my mind is totally made up then I am just stubborn. I do like to cut slack where I think it is warranted. The offensive and defensive cap numbers belie the disparity in assets allocated to Evero compared to the offense. As bad as they were last season, I couldn’t fault anyone. Raising this defense out of poverty was more that a one year job. This was just the first year, so… leeway from me. It hurts not having a tight D but the reality is what it is. He has not been given a first rounder yet. Until this year, no second rounder. They took Burns (which I agreed with basically) but gave him little in return and diverted the booty in picks and cap to the OL basically. They just flat pillaged his pantry and cut off his SNAP. I would feel that way about any DC it just happens to be him. I believe Dan is committed to raising the floor over on that side and expect a few things will be addressed. Losing Icky puts a bit of a damper on how much he can do, but the will is there. IMO.
  7. I don't think you move on from Icky, but I do think you have to move forward cautiously and make plans for him not recovering from this. He's under contract next year and will hopefully be able to return for at least some of next season for us to get a look at him on the field in live action. With his serious injury question mark and Moton's age and whispers about his potential degenerative knee conditions, the potential for an early OT pick is definitely there. Honestly, I'd say it's expected. I'll be a little surprised if we don't draft an OT with one of our first three picks I just hope we don't force it.
  8. I like Howell in the 2nd if he's still there
  9. If I was a cap guru I'd be working in an NFL front office but what years of following the NFL has taught me is that where there's a will there's a way in regards to the cap.
  10. Might be similar to Fox’s roster when he came here. The bones were there and he whipped them into form. Getting Peppers didn’t hurt but NYG also have a high pick to get some help with. 1-15 when came in, got it to 7-9, then to 11-5. 2 years. But 1-15 to 7-9 tells you that was an underachieving team in 2001.
  11. That rams td was an amazing highlight catch and throw.
  12. I should look that up. How much the top Gs make now, who they are… But good lord my reaction is for 100 million he better be. I would expect top 5 for that contract. His deal is two years in so not really cutting edge for the upcoming FA. I am not dogging him, he is a good player and an asset but also I have seen him losing matchups, getting pushed around. In my cheapskate mind no 100 million dollar guard should be having that happen. I guess honestly I feel like we could do better for that money. At the same time 100 mil for any right guard is shocking to me, it is walk on water territory.
  13. If Cam Newton had thrown a pass like that at the receivers knees with the game on the line in the playoffs we'd be hearing about it all offseason and it damn sure wouldn't matter that the WR was a rookie. No standards here anymore.
  14. The more I read about this injury the more it seems like our best bet is to move on from Ickey and look for another LT. I hate it for the guy because he's really started to come along but we can't risk sinking top LT money into a guy coming off a potentially career-threatening injury.
  15. Gotta say they have dick for cap space this year so I don't know how much he can improve the roster outside of the draft. At the same time they have a lot of good players underperforming so will be interesting how much he can do with the same tools as last year.
  16. My only concrete thought about this is Harbaugh has the track record and rep to withstand dips in success. Like, Caughlin got a lot of leeway from the Maras in some lean years. The people they have put into the job lately were not established and could not get themselves established, I don’t think the same level of security was there for them.
  17. It depends. The cap money is there if they want to go all in this year. We can restructure our most expensive players and also extend some of our upcoming free agents to clear a lot of room (if they want to). I imagine they will do this with a few guys, but not everyone, as it will put us in a bind beyond 2026.
  18. I don't think he's holding back every interesting player but I also can't say that he's doing anything particularly innovative to unlock potential talent. Moehrig arrived as an accomplished proven pro that we PAID. He wasn't some diamond in the rough. I think most NFL coaches can field good units if given the right pieces to fit their systems. What separates the truly good coaches is that they can tweak their systems to best fit their talent. I just don't see that flexibility from Evero. He very much seems like a "muh system" type of coach and he's going to try to shoehorn his talent into predetermined roles.
  19. I was still talking about Mauigoa. I'm not a big fan of trade ups either, just saying that a lot of mocks have the lions taking him 2 picks ahead of us.
  20. I was never clear to me that Frank put that staff together. One of the problems with that season. In other news… people, don’t forget the fans in Pittsburgh were chanting Fire Tomlin. It wasn’t good. He has his share of pride and the organization was walking a fine line to keep him and have that popping up next year.
  21. He did but he didn’t dictate Rhule having that hybrid 3-3-5 with Snow. That was Snow’s system. I think we just run a 3-4 now because Frank did and he hired Evero who runs that system.
  22. Today
  23. I think wherever Mike McCarthy goes, Jonathan Cooley goes. Capers was McCarthys coordinator for 9 seasons. None of his other DCs ever really worked out except Quinn who is in Washington now. McCarthy can’t have Evero but he can get his understudy. That would still be a 3rd round pick this year
  24. Robert Hunt is a top 10 RG when he's healthy.
