  1. Past hour
  2. I guess I did miss that point. Or I wasn’t clear. What I was saying is I would exclude people that don’t fit within my prototypical box. Dismiss them just out of hand. I would rather screw up by passing on a unicorn than being stuck like we got stuck. The evaluation of those who do fit in the box should proceed as normal.
  3. Well ultimately he knew full well what he was getting into with this lot here which is why he insisted on a 6 year contract.
  4. Exactly. It's absolutely a super high stress job. I don't doubt that one bit. But our guys definitely seem to wear it way worse than the other guys. That tells you something. The only other guy right now that's comparable is Mike McDaniels down in Miami. That dude's wearing it this year.
  5. Probably does have something to do with that. Lot of the scouting staff has been here since the Rhule hire.
  6. Maybe he is just a drama queen living his best life
  7. Per usual with Tepper's Panthers the entire approach feels wrong. Tepper wants in on all the stuff he should be seeing himself out of and then wants to be hands off on the stuff that he needs to be stepping in on.
  8. Yeah, it’s mind blowing. Don’t get me wrong, the combine is fun. It’s cool to see guys put up these crazy, superhuman numbers, but honestly, the tape doesn’t lie. The times where the combine measurements meets the on-field production, that’s rare, and those guys are guaranteed stars. In my observations over the years, it seems there are a lot more guys who don’t measure the best or well at all, but they’re just damn good at football. NGL, it’s why I’m high in Scourton and Princely, bc they don’t have the craziest athletic measurements, but when you watch them, they have those innate football movements, and they look faster and stronger than combine measurements would indicate. ATP in my life, like I said, if I have to choose between on-field appearance and production versus crazy raw athletic scores with potential, give me the football player every time. Hopefully Dan has learned this now.
  9. Let’s be real. The panthers have only had one QB they drafted that worked out. Cam. Collin’s was a drunk that worked 5 years later with a couple teams. 1 QB in 30 years. What makes everyone think whoever they draft is gonna work? Canales is a beta male who shows zero back bone and leadership.
  10. It is wild how soft and accommodating Charlotte media is on the Panthers. If this poo show was happening on a city with a real sports press it would be absolutely knives out and it would've been for years.
  11. If Dave had any managers abilities he would be doing some form of that yesterday before they started cutting guys to force hands. I guess at least something is entertaining with Panthers football this year now.
  12. Implying there's any light at the end of that tunnel for us.
  13. It would be nice if we had beat writers who were good at their jobs and not just regurgitating whatever the team said. ...Instead we have David Newton.
  14. Ok so I think I understand the picture a little better now. Full disclosure, I took all of last season off...this is really the first season since 2019 I have paid attention. So we brought in canales to do his thing with the qb. That's why it is a QB issue and not a coach issue. So I stand by my joke comment, bring in russ, make him hold it down til we draft a goodern.
  15. The Queen of Australia is getting divorced, and now this. I don't know how much more I can take.
  16. Prospect evaluation is always going to be more art than science. The guys who have all the measurables and all the production go really high in the draft. Once you get past those handful of the prospects all the rest have warts and you have to sort through it and try to figure out the ones who are going to be able to overcome their shortcomings on paper. And even then, some of those picture perfect prospects on paper are STILL gonna bust.
  17. I remember the times of how the Huddle bitched about not drafting enough athletes. Then we switched to purely athletes with no abilities. Oh how the turns have tabled.
  18. I don’t see how it could be a lot worse. I am sure it could be but we are talking degrees and there are stretches of time where we have subjected to the worst QB play I can remember seeing, that didn’t come from a backup or a rookie. Not the one off whacky butt fumble type play, just down after down of yuck. I think I might have to go watch Jimmy Clausen tape for therapy.
  19. I think you are missing the point. All these guys had elite attributes. Arm strength, accuracy, athleticism, etc. Those were things Bryce didn't truly have. So, look AT THE BARE MINIMUM for that as a starting point.
  20. We're getting to the point that comparing us to the Cleveland Browns is insulting to the Cleveland Browns.
  21. I understand that. The guy has made plenty of money. It would feel like a slap in the face for a seasoned vet to be offered a PS role and just not be financially worth it. I'd be the same. Either sign me and play me or I'm not interested. Seems a fair ask. If no one's interested, hang 'em up and enjoy retirement.
  22. I grew up in a baseball family. Wasn't allowed to play golf for fear that it would mess with my swing. I haven't even thrown a baseball in 5 years...meanwhile I can only imagine how good I would be if I started golf back then...golf and tennis and scholastic bowl and band is the way to go.
  23. I suspect it's even worse behind closed doors than we imagine, as scary as that thought is. I mean, the way Tepper conducted his last GM and HC searches said a LOT IMO. He approached it like a guy who knew top candidates weren't even entertaining the job so he avoided them to avoid being publicly rebuked by top candidates.
