Thielen I didn't mind so much because what he excels at doing is creating separation without top end speed and he was an elite route runner. I know coaches can coach to a point, but a player like AT knows the little nuances that can be passed on after practice or in game if a DB is doing something that can be exploited in game or help with somthing a younger WR isn't familiar with. They're a real time asset and that has a value as well as long as they're willing to share that knowledge.

BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff
TheSpecialJuan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kaye’s Take: Bevell is the logical voice to add because of his experience with QBs and Canales. They speak the same language, but Bevell has also explored other offenses and worked with a bunch of QBs. Even if he’s not the play-caller, he understands how to sequence play-calling and design plays — that can help Canales and Brad Idzik in their routine. Bryce Young wins here, too. Bevell has worked with shorter QBs and had a lot of success with them, particularly Russell Wilson https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/2021617355596415340?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA -

Like the hire or don't - I appreciate that this team isn't afraid to spend money on coaches. Tepper is an asset as an owner in that regard. -

BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff
TheSpecialJuan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Darrell Bevell CARCoaching Staff Panthers hired former Dolphins quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell as the team’s associate head coach. Bevell will operate as the Panthers’ new offensive specialist, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Bevell, who was the pass game coordinator and QBs coach in Miami from 2022 to 2025, will reunite with Panthers head coach Dave Canales, the wide receivers coach for the Seahawks when Bevell was the team’s offensive coordinator. After bouncing around the league for the past 20 years, Bevell will look to maximize Bryce Young’s abilities in 2026 for a Carolina offense that last season ranked 26th in EPA per play and 18th in success rate. -

Been more than one example of that too. And the calls that went in for those last 4 plays… that happened once before last year too. I want to say one of those Saints games but it might have been early on with the comeback falling short vs Az. I could swear we have seen that before. You know, thinking about it, and where Canales is in his development, the best thing might be to get a proven guy upstairs and have him call the plays while Canales focuses of getting the other parts of his job working right and being more comfortable where some things become second nature. If we had a good couple of year run like that the OC could probably leave for a promotion and Canales might be in a better position to handle it. I am 50/50 on Canales, maybe 60/40. It seems to me that you lose something not seeing the field as well as you do from upstairs. And you can’t HC from upstairs. - Today

Also, one argument Pearce’s side could make, don't know if would fly, is if the league suspends him before he has his day in court, they would be negatively impacting his ability to hire the best defense attorneys he could hire. (Loss of income) And that a suspension should only be implemented after a guilty verdict or plea. I don’t think that will work.

BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff

Knowing that many Panthers fans are confused to his role here, I wonder if he goes back to Stanford or WF in some capacity. Seems more his speed than the NFL. -
The league has been very tough on those issues, when their hand has been forced. They tried to sweep Ray Rice under the carpet at first. But even pansy ass Goodell has been tougher than the US legal system on them. He doesn’t really have the presumption of innocence and the constitutional protections to adhere to, nor does he have to contend with juries. And insane, unethical (imo) attorneys. Who don’t seem to be very consistent, let me put it that way. They are easily swayed by dog and pony shows and celebrity lately. I could be surprised but I expect the guy to have a better shot with the justice system than with the league. Better a Falcon in that seat than a Panther, for sure. Blank got hosed by Fontenot and to maybe a lesser degree, Morris. There were some truly boneheaded decisions made by that regime. (bless their hearts).

This ^^^^ heck just at the end of the rams game using some of those time outs instead of burning a minute trying to get the call in could have been huge. -
Yup unfortunately their own issues of zero defense and no dynamic pass catchers killed em". The Bills havent been great drafting offensive weapons for Allen and it shows.

Yeah there is a lot of slack that if tightened up would possibly get us up a level. Just getting us out of suffering from the obvious oversights, could make a game or difference in the end. -

Now I could actually see him being a pretty good QB for one last season in Minnesota, tons of offensive weapons there including the best WR in the NFL.... Letting go of Darnold and Daniel Jones in favor of that bum was some real egg on their faces, if he gets a chance to start they will have also let go of Howell that year as well. -

I am not all knowing for sure but I don’t see how Idzik advances professionally without being a legit OC and handling the entirety of the job description. Which he lacks to this point. And can’t get with Bevell in the mix, I don’t believe. He may have to look elsewhere for a path to advancement. -

Well from a game management and play calling perspective it has been painfully obvious Cannales wasn't able to do both at an even average level. It was a least 4-6 times this season at the end of halves or games we would have 3 time outs and not use any after short gains and end up running out of time to even run more plays because they burned off 20 seconds on a three yard play didnt call timeout. -
Wouldn't be mad about it. I do hope we spend a day 3 pick on a QB and the ceiling is higher than Plummer.
