  1. Past hour
  2. I am not saying you are right or even wrong I just think its an odd set up and I cannot recall anything similar in the nfl. I am sure there has been something like this but its certainly not common.
  3. I kind of like it because play calling seemed to be a weakness of his. Having a vet play caller in Bevell to help Idzik learn could be good. Plus I think Canales is too green of a HC to try to handle play calling too.
  4. This is similar to his who to start at RB after Rico had 500 yards in 2 games. It took him calling a leadership council to figure it out. His offense has been stagnant for 2 years. This doesn't show growth to me. It's either extremely slow recognition of something any Huddler could see and has been beaten like a rented mule here or someone's told him your offense better improve or else. I tend to think it's the latter.
  5. Lol...just gonna be another scapegoat by the end of the season. That will be 4 play callers at that point that are just "holding bryce back".
  6. Yeah I agree with TE being a low priority. And WR should be as well. IOW no reason to invest another high pick in a pass catcher. What is the point when we have games where we only throw it 20 times? It isn’t like there is the volume of targets to justify that. We should try and find a complimentary speed guy without making a major investment. We could use one of those. If anything, I would argue any pass catching we do chase should be from the RB position. That, we could get a lot of use out of. At least going off the last three years.
  7. We'll see if this plan actually sticks if we get off to a slow start. It'll probably delay another Bryce benching too if he sucks again. I'm sure we'll see a game or two of Canales with the play sheet before making a QB change again.
  8. His hiring has always been a "WTF". He was an "OC" that didnt install the offense and didnt call plays and is so inexperienced it took him 2 years on the job to call plays but he still needs an in game handler.
  9. When Bevell will came here I suspected maybe he would be that play caller. I did not at all expect him to be here as an assist to Idzik at being the play caller. Not sure what to think. Idzik is like the third generation of a football family so him being just some dumb ass assistent with a token OC title isn’t necessarily the case even though it seems an automatic assumption. It is possible he knows his stuff but is just inexperienced. But damn I didn’t see this coming until last week when I read someone like Person or another writer floated this scenario. And didn’t really take it as a foregone thing.
  10. Are we run first by design or are we run first because our QB is limited? These are rhetorical questions, but our offensive roster kinda forces us to play certain ways.
  11. Yeah hopefully Idzick has grown as a playmaker and preseason was not a good indicator of his abilities. Otherwise ooh we mayne
  12. Was not impressed by Idzik in preseason but long term I think this is good.

  15. I guess thats better because dual play callers seems like it would end in disaster, bouncing ideas off of Bevell in game time is slightly better but still not ideal. Why not just demote Brad and make Bevell OC?
  16. Love that Canales can put aside ego and make the right call by deferring the playcalling. I have a little PTSD that Bryce could potentially have too many voices in his corner again depending on Bevell's presence.....and if Canales can truly stay hands off. As long as there's a blueprint and everyone stays in their lane, this is the right move.
  17. It's about time. He really shouldn't be calling plays unless there is a key play or 2 we need on offense late in a game
  18. Should have been more specific but I haven’t posted here in so long I forgot how to do stuff
  19. Well- sure. Because we, the fans, don't see their impact.
  20. Makes room for someone to advise Evero...Sean McDermott?
  21. Love this! With the tougher schedule coming up, gives Canales a scapegoat if the season turns sour
  22. I think it’s more by design. Run first offenses likely block more at TE but right now the WRs we have are just better than our TEs. Kmet is not Olsen, so he’d more than likely just slide into the targets we already don’t have much of right now. Young threw for 3011 yards. While it was 21st, it was dead last among players that started all year. The guys behind him are rookies who didn’t start all year or guys who were injured or guys who took over for an injured starter. When your team throws it less than any other team, Kmet is a waste of time and money unless he’s an amazing blocker. Tmac and Coker should dominate targets and XL/TEs/RBs split up the rest. We shouldn’t spend a high pick on a TE or spend a lot of FA $$$s.
