Panthers bring back TE Feleipe Franks
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Etienne didn't really return punts in college. He did return kickoffs though. Those are very different jobs. Hard to ask a guy to learn a new position in the pros. Kind of like moving a guy to OT when he played DT in college. And then starting him as a rookie. -

Huddle would lose their collective ish. You're giving BY too much! -

Hell, I'll take a guy that actually looks like he has returned a ball before in his life and doesn't muff the punt every 4 punts... Etienne looks like a walking disaster every time he is back there to return punts -
Agree with this. Any linemen drafted won't start this season. Heck it took Derrick Brown 3 years to figure it out. ILB, FS, Nickel on defense. WR, TE on offense. Those are the only positions that could realistically start day one. Though TE is also a position that generally takes time to learn, as you're an olineman and a receiver. You have to learn complex blocking schemes and then the route tree/hot routes/chemistry with your QB.

I love the idea posited here that we need to take a defensive player so as not make Bryce look good like lol-if we draft a plug and play defensive star who helps this team return to the playoffs-guess what? bryce young is getting a contract extension these people need to just show their hand, admit they’re obsessively consumed with it and nothing else, and demand the team has a firesale and begins rebuilding.

Post Banks reaggravating his foot I think Woods is the only DT with a real shot to go at 19. I’m a little worried about him on the outside but he’ll be fine in nickel. there’s overlap with Wharton though and it makes me think they probably don’t go that direction. they just spent a lot of money in free agency, it would seem odd to go out and draft a player that won’t be starting in his first season. I think they want an OT and DT and would take one they loved…but I really do think they want someone more plug and play.

Have to stop making everything about BY. They will and have been bringing in players to improve the TEAM, not just Bryce Young. Which is something they should have done BEFORE bringing in a rookie QB. Even Metchie is a generally good pickup at a position of need. He just happens to have played with BY in college. And that doesn't hurt his chances or the team's. Morgan just addressed the biggest areas of need on the team via free agency so they won't be reaching for a position of need in the draft. He's legit picking the best player available for the TEAM in the draft. The o-line was in shambles in 2023. He addressed it in 2024. The d-line was in shambles in 2024. He addressed it in 2025. The pass rush and linebackers were in shambles in 2025. He's addressed it in 2026. Unfortunately good young WRs don't hit the FA market, so can't just throw money at them. You have to draft them. I wonder what some would be saying if they'd spent the amount of cap on the offense that they spent on the defense in 2025 and 2026 - and then used both first round draft picks on defense. Would that have been better in your eyes? No. You would be complaining that the defense is too young to compete and more vets weren't brought in because they're trying to prop up BY. This team should be talented enough now to make some noise in the South. If BY is actually holding them back, then QB will be addressed in 2027. They benched him 2 games into their tenure and you think they're tied to his success. No. That doesn't compute. They're tied to the team's success. BY could throw for 5000 yards and if they're 4 - 13, head's will roll. TLDR: Their decisions aren't driven by making BY look good. They're trying to improve the team and win games. Period.

BREAKING: Panthers have interest in Deebo Samuel
Gipetto replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Id rather have curtis samuel - Today

I still firmly believe that Tepper still has his mandate of make Bryce work or get fired and because of that, it doesn't matter how badly he does... He'll get a long term deal in the 40-50m range and set back this franchise for a decade. Then the Teppers will have another QB infatuation and maybe they get it right then.

Any chance Corey Thornton gets back fully healthy and nickel corner isn’t a need ?

Buccaneers sign LB Christian Roseboom
Aussie Tank replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Upgrade him by a country mile by drafting Rodriguez -
He's not going to get fired, if anything happens and it's mostly a certainity at this point, he will be allowed to resign or move into a different role with the program.

Buccaneers sign LB Christian Roseboom
PleaseCutStewart replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't think it hurts that much. IMO, not much of a dropoff from somebody like Gipson compared to Rozeboom. Regardless, I still think we are looking at an ILB in the first 3 rounds. There are quite a few interesting prospects between Rodriguez, Golday, and Hill Jr. that would be good 2nd round picks if they make it to us (Rodriguez might be a stretch since it seems like teams are falling in love with him). Kyle Louis and Lawson are worth a look also in the 3rd -
FA Splash: Panthers sign Jaelan Phillips EDGE
strato replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think that is the first goal of pretty much every team. No one seeks to make it in via WC, in August anyway. You take what you can get, but you always set out to win your division. People look around at their division foes and say okay we can probably expect strong rushing attacks. So we’ll need a stout run D. Mandatory. Etc. We drafted TD basically to spy on Vick. We could do nothing with him up until then. It kind of helped but they were still putting it on us too often for a while. You have to match up to your division. -

This is the goal for this team. It all starts there. Success starts with winning the division every year at bare minimum. Once you do that then you can worry about owning the nfc. Do that then we can talk championships. -
Svech seems due

Panthers Fan 69 started following Canes vs Canadians Tuesday, 7pm

Busy day tmrw so getting this out now.
-
Did they sign him to help teach Baker how to slide? Cause sliding on the ground is how Roseboom ended every play
-
It means they're going to be true to their board and draft the top player on the board as opposed to reaching for a lower graded player based upon need. It's that simple.

Chad Reuter of NFL.com 4-round mock draft
Swaggasaurus replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If the draft falls this way, we take McDonald or Proctor. We also trade up for Allen or JRodz in the 2nd. Probably grab a Center in the middle rounds and rejoice.
