  1. Past hour
  2. If I'm not mistaken, Sam started football later in life than most QBs. Some people need time to develop and when given the opportunity, can find success if they get a few tries at something. Good for Sam, he's always been a class act and I hope he wins a superbowl. Having said that, in pro sports, you can't hold on to a guy for seven years in hopes that they realize their potential.
  3. That should be correct. All the conditions for it to work in our favor played out
  4. And if he doesn't work out, so what. It's not like Bryce's 3k yards are a high threshold to clear. Bryce shouldn't be guaranteed any starting position. He hasn't been consistently good enough. Even if someone not named Howell is brought in and performs better than Bryce, they should get the starting role. This isn't about feelings, it's about wins and you're not going to win many of those averaging less than 200 yards of passing offense a week.
  5. We had Darnold in a terrible situation for Sam Darnold and the team he's QBing. Darnold is best deployed as a high level game manager. He has elite throwing skills but he's disaster waiting to happen when he has to press and a QB has to press on a bad team. Seattle is a great spot for him surrounded with great weapons with an elite defense to lean on. Swap him and Stafford last night and the Seahawks cruise while Darnold has 3-4 turnovers having to try to play hero ball for the Rams.
  6. This picture was posted by the NFL back in September and shows Darnold and Maye at the front closest to the Lombardi trophy. I personally don’t believe in the “script” theory. I do believe that the NFL will influence specific games to get a more entertaining outcome at times. However, this is gaining some steam online and even got a response from NFL PR.
  7. In the last 5 years, nearly 10% of the NFL's starting QBs (19% of the NFC QBs) were / are (at some point) on the Panther's roster. Of those QBs, their 2025 win percentage (regular season) was (combined-- the Seahawks, Bucs, and Panthers) won 30 of 51 games--nearly 60%--in 2025. At an average of 10 wins per season, a team has a better than 90% chance of making the playoffs. (Heck, I nearly added Caleb Williams to this forumula since we basically gave the Bears their QB as well). I
  8. Okay, the way I understand the trade according to one article I read is the 7th got flipped to a 5th. so we gained a 5th and lost our 7th. Is that correct?
  9. Sam was the only turd that floated in our offense. That should have been a sign that the potential was there. I advocated for keeping him and getting some talent around him, but Tepper and co held on to the delusion that they needed to draft a QB #1 overall.
  10. do we have pick #235 or not? Some sites have us with it and some have the Vikings. I know it was part of the Thielen trade, but I thought due to playing time, we got it back.
  11. I'm consistently mocking OT, ILB, Edge, CB, and WR-(s). Either a S or second Edge/ILB regularly. I'm starting to a C consistently to the mix now. Depending on who is left at #19, I wouldn't mind moving back to get a another late 3rd or 4th rounder.
  12. We gotta be realistic. One, we're probably not spending big money at backup QB. Two, someone like Willis who is likely looking for at least an opportunity for a legit QB competition probably won't be coming here. So what are we left with? Given the choices, Howell checks a lot of boxes.
  13. and yet in his only year starting is still comparable if not better than bryces best year. let that marinate a bit
  14. He has potential. His year in Washington without a running game and under pressure almost every play he still managed to put up numbers. I'm not saying start him, but as a QB2 with potential, yeah, I like it for the right price. I hold no illusions that he's a franchise QB, but is he better than Dalton with age on his side and opportunity to get better? Yes. It's time to start throwing some darts. And let's be real. If Bryce wasn't a Panther, no one on this board would be screaming to trade for him if he was available.
  15. More physical talent than Bruce and a lot cheaper. Right now I'm desperate to avoid a long-term extension for Bryce.
  16. Today
  17. We have to go heavy defense and throw some OL in the mix at some point.
  18. My dream FA splash signing. TMac, Coker, and Pitts would be a legit scary skill group for Bryce or whoever the next guy is. If Brooks comes back healthy to pair with Chubba, sheesh
  19. I loved Durant as a college player but he never had NFL ability (same story with Marquise Williams) I was surprised Yates carved put a decent little backup career for himself too. I didn't think he'd get more than a cup of coffee in the NFL.
  20. Why is Sam Howell so loved on this board? dude is absolute cheeks
  21. Sam Howell, Mitch Trubisky, Darian Durant, Matt Baker, T.J. Yates, there's surely a legend hidden in there somewhere.
  22. Hey man baby steps. You aren't wrong, but 2022 Tepper and Fitt would have already signed him to a 3 year extension at 50M per. There aren't really any immediate upgrade options available this year in FA or where we will be drafting so I get the approach. I am nowhere near convinced Bryce is our long term guy yet, but also have to be realistic that we have a team to field next year. Regardless, I like our approach of building an actual team this time and if in 27 or 28 we decide we need a new guy, there's an actual NFL roster around him.
  23. Happy for Sam. His request for music was always Blink 182. Always nice. I remember a private party with all the players at Shaq's house, all the guys liked him too, always having fun with everyone. Cool dude. SF opened his eyes to "doing it right" and then he showed it in Minnesota and now Seattle. Watch more vets under the right leadership and surroundings excel. Sometimes players need a few years in the right environment to succeed.
